Dolphins RE Olivier Vernon said he would be open to signing a contract extension with Miami.

We're certain Vernon is one of the more underrated pass rushers in the league. LE Cameron Wake gets all the attention in Miami, but Vernon has posted back-to-back solid seasons with 2014 being his best. He started all 16 games as a 24-year-old and finished with 6.5 sacks and 48 total pressures one year after registering 11.5 sacks. PFF graded Vernon out as a top-17 4-3 end. He's entering the final year of his rookie deal. The Dolphins have a bunch of talent on the defensive line.
 
Yeah he's probably a must re-sign considering Wakes age and the depth at DE. Like you said. Get it done!
 
I definitely think this is a priority of the Phins... Olivier Vernon has been solid on the line, and making plays in the backfield. Him and Wake have been a great duo rushing the ends.

He fell off from last year, but I think part of that is his splitting times with that BUST Jordan. (Jordan saw the field WAY TOO MUCH!)
 
OV played well but, as Hoops posted, did not step it up as much as expected with all the one on one's he had. I would still definitely extend him.
 
Extend Vernon, move Jordan to OLB and give Chris McCain the backup reps Jordan was getting at DE subbing in for wake who's getting older.

McCain body is far too thin for DE...especially that lower half. Best to keep him at OLB.
