Earlier this offseason I predicted the Miami Dolphins won't re-sign Jason Taylor unless the powers that be feel like the team's close to contending for a Super Bowl berth.
He's old, has an ego, is coming off an injury-shortened season with the Redskins, and got under Bill Parcells' skin last season when he was trying to force his exit, which Taylor later learned was a mistake.
But Taylor's still a six-time Pro Bowler, and is presently one of the most accomplished pass rushers in the NFL.
He's still the perfect compliment for Joey Porter, the sure-thing pass rusher this regime hadn't added this offseason....UNTIL NOW.
My cohort Ethan Skolnick was the first to report that his sources say Jason Taylor re-signed with the team Taylor's spent the first 12 years of his NFL career with.
Taylor, who signed a one-year deal worth $1.5 million on Wednesday afternoon, himself is confirming he's back home.
"My heart has always been in Miami and so I'm truly excited to call myself a Dolphin once again. I was presented with a number of different opportunities, but in the end the combination of this being the best
situation for my family, my love for this community and my tremendous loyalty to a great organization made this an easy decision," Taylor said in a released statement.

a six-time Pro Bowler, rejoined the Miami Dolphins today.
Taylor's agent, Gary Wichard, said the defensive end/linebacker signed a $1.5 million, one-year contract, which includes $400,000 of easily earned incentives.
Taylor played his first 11 seasons with the Dolphins before being traded to the Washington Redskins. He was released by Washington this offseason after one injury-plagued season.
Taylor had expressed a desire to be closer to his South Florida home.
Do you agree with the Dolphins' decision to bring back Jason Taylor?
Yes, they desperately need his pass-rushing ability
No, the Dolphins should move on with younger players
