A broken clock is right twice a day, a blind squirrel finds a nut, call it what you will, but I think he is give or take barking up the right tree:

The Dolphins’ decision-makers run and hide at the mention of the R words — rebuild, remodel, a reset, whatever you want to call this redirection — but that’s just ignorance, or denial speaking........................
It also means the previous decade has been a waste, just like the one before that.
Miami has tanked, built through the draft, and even tried buying a good team, which was the latest approach. Still no breakthrough.
Unless Tua Tagovailoa puts on a cape and becomes Super Quarterback, we’re right back where we started.
The Dolphins tried to do what the Los Angeles Rams did during their “F-them picks” era, which featured Los Angeles trading picks for players consistently, and that led to a Super Bowl win and six playoff berths in eight years.
Miami wasn’t that fortunate.
Why? Because the people in charge didn’t pick the right players, and didn’t draft well enough with the leftover picks to fortify the roster.

Well, we are. I mean look at what we have done and trying to do. They do not want to call it an R word, because of negative impact on ticket sales. It is just like any other team in any other sport. It is going to be a tough year to watch, with any of our joy coming from hopefully and finally seeing young drafted talent grow. Just MHO.

I posted this in another thread but I'll repost it here as well.

(Regarding us 'needing' to draft a CB when Ramsey leaves)

People really need to stop looking at the draft from this perspective. Hopefully Grier does as well.

The harsh truth is we can have the greatest draft in the team's history this week and we still are not going to be a playoff contender this upcoming season. This is not a '1 Draft solution' team. We need a complete rebuild, but because of Tua and other salaries, we just aren't able to. Our rebuild will begin in earnest when we can free ourselves of Tua after the 26 season. For that reason, I expect Grier and probably McD to hang around until then.

After the 26 season ends we will have a new GM, a new Coach and a new QB.

We are unfortunately just going to be in limbo until then.

But that doesn't mean we can't start laying the foundation of our rebuild starting Thursday. And to do that you build from the inside out. Offensive Line has been this team's problem forever and it needs to be addressed. Draft every high ranked O-Lineman that falls to us, it doesn't matter if it's a T, G or C. And it doesn't matter if we have already drafted 3 Tackles, if the highest ranked player on our draft board is another T when our pick comes up, we take him.

The only exception to that is defensive line. While O-Line is the priority and must be picked with at least our first 2 picks, after that just go with the highest ranked O-Line or D-Line available to us.

Next year's draft we can still focus on strengthening our line if need be, but we can also look to improve in other positions as well. I'm hoping we trade some of our late 25 draft picks this year for some mid round 26 and 27 picks. By the time our new regime and QB arrive in 27 we will have already laid the foundation for the rebuild and we can draft our QB and skill players.

It's a long, drawn out process, but it is our only realistic shot at success.

i agree. a lot of wood left to chop. i just wish with all the draft picks (and trade decisions that in theory need to be made like ramsey, tyreek, etc), we had a new GM in place to make those decisions and get on with it. i think ross doesn't want to bite the bullet yet (human nature to not make the hard choices) and then muddle through the year and make a decision. hopefully we end up with more clarity one way or the other after this season is over. god forbid we are 9-8 again and it still feels like a muddled mess, then who knows what he does. if they go 11-6, i guess i will have been wrong, and everyone gets to stay.

I am sorry but does this idiot even understand what a "rebuild" is?. You admit you need to purge the current roster and move on from aging and bloated contracts. I fail to see how any of the moves this off-season have been anything BUT a rebuild.

Do I think Miami is going to be competitive this year, no. Too many holes to fill with not enough capital, they loaded up to make a run and failed, now time to shed some weight and start over.

Five years ago the Dolphins were on the verge of a franchise changing draft. A draft that dynasties start with. I thought the Dolphins trove of picks in 2020/21 was too big to fail, but it was too good to be true because Ross (again) didn’t clean house when he had the chance.

Yup the rebuild has been a complete failure.

5 years later all we have to show for it is 2 playoff appearances and were starting a new rebuild with a QB who probably wont be here in 2 years.

It might be a soft rebuild but it's a rebuild regardless, no matter what nonsense Grier was calling it at the PC
in that context, it still seems odd they dont bite the final bullet and move on from tyreek? the issue may be they are not getting much in the way of offers given all his issues, and they get no cap relief for moving him now, so we are stuck

Rebuild is when you change a QB or DC, because those are on 4 year contracts to perform. When HC changes often both of those change and that's a full rebuld. If one changes then it is a partial rebuild. Dolphins are in partial rebuild, they just last year hired a new DC.

I guess everyone can all hope that Buffalo was "rebuilding" last year and won the division more dominantly than they had previously and maybe it could happen here too!

A giant meteor could also wipe out the whole stadium. So a few reasons for hope.
