Here are a couple of things I think I think about the 2010 Miami Dolphins.

I think the future of the Dolphins defense will depend on whether or not Randy Starks can blossom as the team’s new starting nose tackle. If he falls short of expectations we could be looking at what happened to this team during the 2007 season (the Cam Cameron era) when they were a 3-4 base forced to play more 4-3 schemes because of Keith Traylor’s limitations. I don’t know if it’s a good sign Paul Soliai was working with the starts today…

I think every time I miss practice Cameron Wake starts playing like a Tasmanian Devil. I’m Disappointed I missed Saturday’s afternoon practice because I heard he was a beast, even against Jake Long. But I answer to the wife more than I do my following and the Sun-Sentinel. Hope you understand. Since my return I haven’t seen Wake tear it up yet. In fact, he got exposed in pass coverage during Monday morning’s practice when Anthony Fasano got behind him one time. He are the facts. He’s a good (potentially great) pass rusher, but is maybe average at everything else….

I think I’m starting to see where defensive coordinator Mike Nolan’s going with his defensive scheme. Monday’s practice featured a lot of blitzing from the inside linebackers, outside linebackers and safeties, and the offensive line was having trouble picking them up. The quarterbacks would have been creamed by an unblocked blitzer about half a dozen times. The concepts appear to be so tricky that Channing Crowder picked up two would-be sacks and forced Chad Henne to fumble on one. Imagine that!….

I think CFL teams need to start scouting Pat White now. I have a hard time believing he can make the Dolphins 53-man roster considering he can barely make the offense move without his legs. I’m not a pile on kind of guy, and was honestly hoping to see drastic improvement from White this training camp, but I haven’t noticed any. There’s still plenty of time, but I continue to make the argument I suspect he might not be able to see over the Dolphins’ massive offensive line….

I think Ricky Williams, who previously said he wants to become more of a leader, needs to sit down and have an in-depth talk with White. There’s a lot of uncertainty about what’s going on with White. But I think Williams sharing his life experiences, and early struggles with football and desire issues, might be beneficial….

As much as I like Tyler Thigpen’s upside, I think it’s only a matter of time before Chad Pennington becomes the team’s No. 2 quarterback. Pennington’s accuracy made Marlon Moore look like he’s a Pro Bowl receiver on Friday. Pennington barely works during most sessions, but when he’s in there throwing passes YOU NOTICE. The accuracy is unmatched. The reads are quick. I found it tell that when Fasano made a mistake during a team drill Monday morning he immediately when up to Pennington to talk about what he should have done. I’d love to see Pennington work with Greg Camarillo and Davone Bess regularly.

I’m not saying Pennington should be a starter, but I am saying if his surgically repaired arm holds up he could be very good in 2010.

If you asked me right now, based on everything I’ve seen these five days, if all quarterbacks stayed healthy for an entire season which one do I believe will lead the 2010 Dolphins to move victories in 2010 (not with any future considerations)….my vote would be Pennington. And I’m not trying to stir it up. Just being real with you because his experience shows.

And to think some thought they would put "noodle arm" on the PUP. His arm is fine and his accuracy has had no drop off.

Surprised to see his comments about Pennington being the better option if health/durability were not an issue.

I would have liked to see him speak more about Henne and his progress. I dont understand how you can make a statement like that without dipping into it.Lazy reporting imo.

From all reports and my own eyes, Henne has been on target and on his game all T/C and seemed to have found that magic already with Marshall.

Thanks but you couldn't be more WRONG!! Being a DOLFAN here in NY and having to watch Pennington play here in NY and of course in miami he will NEVER be able to lead a team deep into the playoffs solely based on his arm strength. Accurate yes leader yes experience yes arm strength NO.. You saw it against Baltimore in the playoffs. He can not get the ball down field PERIOD.. Am I happy to have him as a backup yes. but you are kidding yourself to believe Henne is not the man for the job this year and beyond...

He is noodle arm, and he is one fall down away from regaining this old form, should he be no.2 ahead of Thigpen at this point... jury is out..., I think Armando is a fool to place Penny ahead of Henne.

I know that if it were only one game I would take Penny but if I had to have a guy for 16 games without a QB backup I would take Thigpen over Penny at this point

It was Omar not Armando. But it's no surprise be because Omar does not like Henne. No question Henne is #1 but having a healthy Pennington as #2, is nice.

I have to agree. Pennington is a very good QB with one significant downfall...ARM STRENGTH. Unfortunately for that, it eliminates the one very facet of our offense that we truly need to establish....THE DEEP PASSING GAME. We can't go another year having defenses line up 8 sometimes 9 in the box to stop our running game, and the presence of Brandon Marshall can't do it alone. We need a QB with the physical threat of throwing the deep ball. Both of these elements will back the secondary up, keeping them away from the box. Brandon Marshall with Pennington's arm strength will not do that because they know he can't get the ball out there effectively.

He will be an excellent #2 QB.

Omar just loses credibility with a statement like that. We have our Number 1 QB, the others are fighting for 2 and 3.

Omar needs to get out on the field. He has had the last 5 months to screw around and now he puts out this lame report during the first week of camp whe we are salivating for information, he is better off staying home and not writing anything at all. I can't beleive he would even put this crap out there, very week journalism.

Omar has not been a big fan of Henne for whatever reason and he has been very open about this entire offseason.

Honestly if Omar would have come out and say, Henne hasnt been able to redefine his touch passes yet or his accuracy beyond 15 yards has been all over the place then I would have been ok with this statement.

Its not like its a twitter comment or quick note, its part of his blog. I am huge penny fan and love that he is back on track so please do not think I am Penny bashing.

The thing that really makes me laugh is when beat writers are like "Wake is a great pass rusher but average at everything else"

If your a great pass rusher in this league you are worth your weight in gold..They act like being a great pass rusher is like being a great xp kicker or something?

We understand he cant cover..We understand he sucks against the run..There are many Starting OLB' and De's in the league that share the same short comings..

Wake is a beast and I cant wait for him to rack up the sacks this coming year

Pretty interesting what was said about Pennington..I was firm believe that year that if Penny was the starter the whole year we would have made the playoffs...

That being said Penny did was 0 and 3 as a starter....So I just dont know how he could say that even seeing Henne play pretty well last year..

I think he just likes to start contraversey even tho he says he does not.

Honestly people forget how bad Joey was against the run or coverage. Can wake be any worse?
