My best bud in the world...A former Padwan of mine in the Army who is in Hawaii on mid-tour leave from Korea called me last night. One of our topics of conversation was the Grove/Satale trade. We both agreed that both sides won on the trade. He asked me about Satale, and, I told him they are getting an agile center that can play well in space, and, is extremely tough. I did add there are questions about his ability to play nose up on defenders and his strength is sort of in question to that regard.

He shared with me that he liked Grove alot, but, got frustrated that his play was very inconsistant. He said that Grove seems to play up or down to his level of competition, and, seemed like he really needed motivation to play.

Just thought I'd share from a perspective of a Raider's fan.

i think we have the coaching staff to keep him motivated no matter who we play,i just hope he stays healthy from here on out...btw GB..what was your job in the Army and how long were you in for? 9 years and Infantry Soldier here..11B...

I think it would be hard to get motivated for every game when you are on a team like the Raiders. Players should play hard every game, but in that absolute crap storm it has to be hard.

I would think it is hard to stay motivated playing for the Raiders. Maybe a change of teams will light a fire.

8 years. Got out an E-6. I was a 91B (Medical Specialist). They've changed the MOS twice since I got out I think. All my FORCECOM time was spent with Armor or Cavalry 1-7 Cav, 3-66AR, 1BDE Recon Troop, 4th ID.

I love hearing from the guy. I got him when I was an E-4..He was a very young, angry kid. He's now a married E-7 with a child and a career soldier. I could not possibly be any prouder of him.

11B In some trouble, Imagine that..... lol, I was 95B (MP) and had to arrest many of you infantry guys. Being an MP kinda sucked tho BTW.... while you guys were off on weekends and 4 day holidays etc...(When you weren't in the field or deployed) we were working 12 hour shifts including holidays. I was in for 8 years got out an E-6, only duty stations were Ft. Useless(Eustis) in VA, and Schofield Barracks in HI, Believe it or not HI sucked much more than VA.

I had some very good early leadership. I also got in when I was 24, so, I was older than most coming in an E-Nothing. My bud ain't even gonna make E-8. He's gonna retire an E-7. HE doesn't have the CMB or EFMB, and, he has no combat tour time. The board says that doesn't matter, but, we all know it does.

The bottom line is that he has done better than me, and, is a success in life. I look at him as my greatest accomplishment.

Not to mention being the most deployed MOS in the Army other than Patriot Gunners.
