reasons to go:

1. go go

reasons to keep him:

1.Panthers HC Ron Rivera and his starting QB Cam Newton didn't have success together until their third season (this year). Fire the GM...fine. That's what the Panthers did after 6-10 and 7-9 records prior to this season. Picked up Dave Gettleman, got some pretty good talent on that team and they're finally having success in Carolina after 4 straight seasons of bad football. I'm afraid we might be giving up too soon on Philbin and it's definitely too early to give up on Tannehill. We need a change in front office philosophy for sure and maybe a few tweaks on the rest of the coaching staff, but I'm not sure we should let Philbin walk just yet.

The Miami Dolphins if they were an attorney in court. Sighhhh.

Well everyone knows when you are stuck in the mud in Alabama....

Serious note though, I cannot express how disappointed I am with this coaching staff. We looked not bad for the pieces we had last year, we "improve" our roster and yet we have regressed. Can we picket to fire Ireland again?

Personally I think he is a smart man and in time he will be a solid head coach. A few weeks ago I was very comfortable with him staying with us long term. And I thought the real problem was Sherman.

The wheels started coming off the bus for me when we lost to buffalo's 5th string qb after a bye week.

He can still redeem himself my eyes though. Starting with finishing the season with some momentum. And firing Sherman at season's end and making a good quality selection as his replacement. i dunno...

I remember making this argument for Sparano (in comparison to Jeff Fisher) and I was rewarded with a giant cluster **** of a season. Not willing to roll the dice on that when the alternative is setting our franchise back another 3 years

My faith in Philbin as a HC and leader changed DRASTICALLY last night when he barely reprimanded/spoke to Wheeler for the personal foul that won the game for the Bucs. Wheeler gave them the game and all Philbin did on the sideline was very calmly whisper no more than one sentence in his ear as Wheeler walked past him. Philbin then let him walk right past him and instead of grabbing him or getting his attention, turned to whatever coach was standing next to him and made a comment.

The way Schiano spoke to Reed when he committed the PF on Stanford should have been how Philbin reacted to Wheeler at the least.

He is very neat and tidy picking up trash on the practice field and all.

Seriously i've been a Philbin supporter but the number one job of the HC to me is to have his team ready to play and several times this year after bye and long weeks with extra time to get ready for important games they have been flat and seemingly uninterested. That's Joe's fault.

I'm not sure we'd be as sophisticated as that.

My faith in Philbin was lost after the way they came off a bye and lost to an undermanned Bills squad. The 4 game losing streak confirmed it, and this last loss was the final nail. I don't want him back under any circumstance.

the main problem I see here is Philbin just doesn't seem to be cut out as HC material. If you can't get a team fired up for the Bucs game after all this controversy then you've got a problem. They came out flat & then the Bucs actually gave the Phins a lifeline with the 15yd personal foul which led to a TD and some momentum. If it wasn't for that, I dread to think what the scoreline might have ended up.

More importantly, as I keep pointing out, Philbin hasn't surrounded himself by good, creative coaches which is actually portrayed in the players. I actually think if you give Philbin 3-4 years he would eventually become a good coach - the problem is Ross & our fanbase arn't prepared to wait that long and quite frankly why should we - we've waited long enough and Ross has pumped enough money into this franchise to win now not develop a coach to gain experience, which is where Philbin currently is & shows no signs of speeding up. Plus that oline - please tear that up and start again until they get it right, these plaster fixes are useless, we made the Bucs d look like Lewis & the Ravens!

Good points but there's no guarantee blowing it up will turn the franchise around right way either. Kansas City is doing it sure, but they're pretty much the exception rather than the norm.

Sorry, I just don't see a championship coach in Philbin. He doesn't inspire men, he doesn't out think opposing coaches, he doesn't make players disciplined. A championship coach has at least one of these qualities, and most have multiple of these qualities. Philbin has none.

Very compelling reason as to why he should go. Nice work. Losing to the Bills and Bucs of all teams after 10+ days off is not a good way to highlight your resume.
