One bad year is NOT going to turn this team around. I would hope that 2007 proved that to everyone but I guess not. Luck may or may not be the answer this team needs, assuming we have the first pick. This team has many problems that can not be addressed through one off-season. We're not a young team just looking for the right piece to the puzzle to make everything click. We're an average team at best that needs rebuilding, yet again. We have some good players but not enough to provide a stable core from which to build a team.

If you want to look at evidence of great college players who were massively over-hyped when entering the NFL look no further than Reggie Bush.

It all starts with a QB, whether we're rebuilding or not. Nobody here thinks we're contending for a Super Bowl immediately if we get Luck. But we eventually would be.

Nowadays teams turn around quick. Happens all the time. We wont be in the SB next year, but we can be competitive quickly. Dont underestimate coaching and a new QB.

I wouldn't call 2008 a turnaround. Chad Pennington fell into their lap, Tom Brady was out and they played one of the easiest schedules that I ever remember them playing. If Pennington remained with the Jets or went elsewhere, I am pretty confident that last season would have been this regimes last.

Look at the Colts... they've been to the playoffs 11 of the last 12 years, that means playoff records every year... whats different this year? ONE injury, the QB.

These guys never looked like a playoff team to me, even though I wanted to believe there was a chance if we had landed some studs in the draft. Too many excuses were made for how horrifically they stumbled down the stretch last December. It was reminiscent of 2007.

As bad as whiffing on the Harbaugh deal was, the mop up from that was even worse. The round table clinched it that this team was officially a three ring circus until it reopens under new management. I did figure we'd get our first win before Halloween, though.

Of course we didn't really turn it around after our 2007 season. Franchise LT's don't turn teams around, franchise QB's do.

your right that luck alone wont turn this franchise around but its a GREAT start to it.... having a franchise QB like luck makes building your team a lot easier. We have alredy got some good pieces to stick around him and will have to add a few more before being a championship contender but a playoff contender would be almost instant (as long as our defense gets back to being at least solid again)

Thanks for this post guys I was going through the same thing

You can turn around a franchise quickly, but you need to do the right things like get a franchise QB. Something Miami has refused to do for 12 years.

If we do get the number 1 pick overall and draft Luck, I don't think anyone here expects us to go from worst team in the league to super bowl winners overnight (and if they do, they're delusional). However, getting Luck would be absolutely crucial for this franchise. In the passed decade, look at the teams that have won a super bowl. What do they have in common? They either have a great QB, or a great defense (and sometimes they have both).

Obviously, we're not going to right the ship completely in one year, but you have to start somewhere...and there is no better place to start than with Luck.

You're cherry-picking one example to suit your point. Let me know when you've looked at a sufficient sample of #1 overall picks.
