At the age of 47, Thomas Hearns has lost much of his speed and power. His self-confidence is still intact, though.
Saturday, Hearns needed 10 rounds to stop 40-year-old journeyman Shannon Landberg, but he wasn't going to give himself a poor grade.
"On a scale from 1 to 10, I would probably give myself a 7 or an 8," he said. "I can't give myself a perfect 10, because when I had him in trouble, I let him off the hook. That's not me."
In 1981, Hearns beat Ernie Singletary in the Bahamas, then watched as Muhammad Ali stumbled through a career-ending decision loss to Trevor Berbick in the main event.
