It struck me that Odell Beckham Jr's success in catching the ball with one hand, has raised the expectation bar for all receivers. It wasn't so long ago that a one handed catch was considered a bit freaky but in Arizona a few days prior to the Super Bowl they had Odell catching ball after ball with a single hand (I forget how many he caught but it was like 20+) one after another. He did it with ease. Odell and Jarvis Landry were taught how to catch the ball one handed at LSU and they clearly practice it and can do it easily. It's definitely not a fluke or luck, but they have to have very big hands. Brent Grimes showed he could do it as well in the Detroit game.
There is a terrific group of WRs in this year's Draft but OBJ's marketable skill will mean that many will be trying to imitate him. Maybe we should have an exercise at the Combine to test the WRs and TEs catching the ball with one hand to see who can do it and who can't. You just know that it would attract attention.
Welcome your thoughts...

I thought of this guy

I wish Mike Wallace would stop trying to catch everything one-handed...

FishfanMiami thank you for remembering Oronde's great catch from yesteryear - it also highlighted the inaccuracy of some Jay Fiedler passes.
Actually, we could do with another Oronde right about now. A big bodied, big handed target in the red zone. Hmmm - Dorial?

Yes Fiedler was inaccurate but this wasn't a pass that was. It's clear Oronde slowed down and lost a step on his route. This is very clear from the video. With that being said Oronde was arguably the best dolphin handed WR ever.

One handed catches are great when necessary . Too many receivers are pointlessly trying to catch balls one handed now days . Before a coach would slap you for not using both hands on a ball in which both Hands could of been used ... Now we have morons like Wallace smiling for the camera and dropping perfect TD passes to show up on espn (jets game) .

If I see a receiver one hand a catch in a game for no reason while watching his tape I pass on his ass unless he's Randy Moss. Because that same player will do that in an NfL game on third down and get popped to drop the ball and kill a drive .

Give me a solid route runner with good HANDS over the freak who has his friends in his ear about how he hasn't shown up on the top ten for two weeks .

So it sounds like you prefer Hartline to Wallace. Because that is who you just described.

I prefer a fat turd with a jersey on than Wallace . It would be a better teammate . And probably a better route runner as well .

A receivers ability to make a one handed catch shouldn't be judged when evaluating him as a prospect. David Tyree made a spectacular catch or 2 in his one season in the nfl
