since the 2002 season (minus 2004 season) we have needed one more victory to reach the playoffs. It looks like its going to happen again this year. its really frustrating. i-m beginning to wonder if this mare's fault. his missed field goals are changing the momentum of our games. its really frustrating to our offense to work hard and come away with nothing. I know interceptions and dropped passes are to blame also. it just seems if we had a better kicker things would be different.

2002 9-7 mare 7 missed fg's
2003 10-6 mare 7 missed fg's
2004 4-12 wish we could delete this season
2005 9-7 mare 5 missed fg's
2006 6-7 mare 10 missed fg's

You can not always blame the kicker for losing.
I liked it when all the blame went to Wanny instead.:D

Its tough to blame him fully, but I can think of different spots that effected outcomes of games. In 03, he missed a field goal and had another blocked in OT that could have beaten the Patriots, making us 11-5 and probably in the playoffs. This year Mare missed the field goal at the end of the Jets game that could have carried us into OT and maybe we could have won it there. I guess its a bit of a reach, but I see some issues with him. Regardless, I'm done with Mare. I hope this is his last season in South Florida.

Harsh words
I like him but I do think it might be time for a new person.

Mare needs to go, you can't put all the blame on him, but he is hurting the team more than he is helping us, so he needs to go.

Well, you can't keep a guy just because he "used" to be good. Sure, he's had his moments but every player at EVERY position has to move on at some point whether its because of injury, age or the fact that they just can't perform at a high level anymore. He's missed too many field goals for my taste the last few seasons and this season is the nail in the coffin.

Interesting stats he definitely blew it in 2003 against the Pats and those numbers do correspond with losses. He should get the heave-ho next year!

I blame the team for not putting the ball in the endzone more often when we have the chance. Once we get down into the redzone we start to play poweder puff ball and we are forced to kick field goals because of it. I would rather throw 5 TD's and 2 INT's in the endzone, than kicks 5 Field goals and score 2 TD's. There is a lot more chance in kicking a fieldgoal than there is putting the ball in the endzone. We cant tighten up though everytime we get around the endzone.

Better play by our offense would have resulted in more TDs, or at least shortened the field for those kicks. Missed kicks are very visible. Missed blocks and assignments are tougher to spot. Sure, I'd like to see our kicker make more kicks, but to blame a poor record on the kicker is a bit short-sighted, I think.

The Broncos finished 10-6 and went to the playoffs with that record didnt they?

Had we won that single game we'd be 11-5 and defnitely passed them to be in the playoffs.

Don't worry though....Mare still insists he doesn't have to practice at all on the dirt infield....:shakeno:

If he made that field goal to go to overtime who knows what would have happened and the missed field goal against GB had us out of the game with time left and those are the the first two that come to mind. Who knows we could be 8-5 instead of 6-7.

I wouldnt call our records in the past 5 years poor except 2004. if we had a more reliable kicker in the past and present we would have easily been in the playoffs and not suffered this playoff drought.
