After watching the game and knowing that pennington has the team for a couple years, the way I look at things, we have backs, we have an offensive line, we have TE'S, a effective veteran QB and a nice young prospect, do you think getting a big time wideout this year by trade would open things up and speed up the phins turn around. I have that feeling after watching this game anyone else?

We need 1-2 WRs, some OL depth (especially OT), depth at the nose on D, an LB or two and secondary help. If we had all of that and kept Pennington upright this year, we'd have a playoff chance.

No because even with all that, it takes time for a team to gel and come together and learn the new system.

Credit. I think we're very few steps away from having all the personnel we need...I think we need some more time for our young guys to develop before we are competitive.

That being said, if they play hard the beginning of the season and learn fast.. I don't think a playoff run is improvable.

P.S. That would be amazing for me. I have a very stupid die-hard fan tradition. Every year, I bet $50 on the dolphins winning the Superbowl. When I placed my bet the odds were 1/100 (I think that's what they are now). I don't do it thinking I'll win... but when the Dolphins do make a playoff run it makes it even more exciting.

After watching one preseason game? Seriously?

a #1 WR (30 yards leading receiver - kircus)
a #1 Corner (75% completion ratio yesterday)
***
a #1 QB (hopefully Penny is the answer)
Fasano is no Tony Gonzales (1 catch - 6 yards)
a backup OT would be nice... if Ndukwe is starting, the season is over.
***
If a WR and a Corner get cut for cap reasons... we could do some damage this year.
***
I like the D-line.
The safeties seem good.
The linebackers seemed ok yesterday.

Offense:
The RB's looked Great (except for Ronnie)
The o-line has potential to be the best it's been in 10 years. (maybe we just re-drafted Webb and Simms in Long and Thomas)
Fasano is an improvement over Martin.

we need consietency from the WR's....we need to have a guy that our QB can go to on 3rd down knowing he's gonna get open and make the catch....Marino had Nat Moore and Tony Nathan early on his career and later on he had OJ and Gasden too....I'm sure we can trow it to Ronnie but we need a WR that'll help us move the chains.....on defence we need 1 of the LB's to be a top pass rusher in order for our defence to stop those long drives.

Ozzy rules!!

we are far from being a good team again.

Worst post ever. We played with our 2nd string team last season, had an idiot for a head coach, and lost 6 games by 3 points or less and you're going to tell me we're far away from being a good team? No team is far away from being a good team in the NFL. This isn't the NBA or NHL.

I love how the team went one missed fg from 0-16, and now people are asking if we are one player away. lol away from what? making it to 8-8? it still shocks me some dont seem to understand the magnitude of this rebuild and what that entails. patience is one, which few seem willing to exercise.

I would say a #1 corner and a true #1 receiver are our most urgent needs. depth is something we're going to have to build through the draft or from others cast offs.

Actually, I find your post somewhat questionable. No team is far off from being good? Go tell the Lions that. Or the Cards. The Browns were bad for how long? The 49ers? The people who think the Phins can be 8-8 or better this year are in a dreamworld. Straightup. Its all good. I had to listen to al lthe 10-6 idiotic predictions last year. I got coined the "negative" guy, because I said last year we would suck. Id love for someone who thinks the Phins will be good to explain that to me. Over half the roster was turned over, we have crap at wr, star rb coming off major surgery and qb questions as usual. Pennington is far from durable, so people now pinning their hopes on him are once again tricking themselves into having confidence in a guy.

i think we need better linebackers after the other game... the were killin us with the dink and dunk...

The #1 receiver will come in next year's draft. Michael Crabtree from Texas Tech.
