Last year 2 weeks before he went down with an injury , I pulled off a trade in 1 of my Fantasy Fooball leagues to acquire Dante.

Right before he went down with the injury he scrambled and picked up some yardage, one thing that bothered me was that instead of sliding , like most QB's do, he actually looked for contact, and i remember thinking, please don't do that again.

Then of course the next time scrambled, well, we all know the story.

So I have one major request of Mike Mularkey and Jason Garret...

PLEASE , PLEASE teach Daunte to slide to avoid contact after a scramble.

I know he's a big man, and I know he wants to make contact and hurt some of the small defensive guys, but he needs to not do that anymore, since i haven't watched him play all that much I assume that this is how he usually finishes a run.

I feel better now. :cooldude:

I think a lot of this is coaching, but a lot is also the knowledge that he is as big as some of these DBs... he is not afraid to take a hit, or make a hit...

I sure hope that the coaching staff addresses that, but I also hope that his knee injury is going to make him think twice about it...

Well, when you're 280 pounds and even the linebackers that try to tackle you are 30 to 50 pounds lighter and 4 inches shorter than you, you tend to feel like you can break a good percentage of their tackles to get extra yardage. That attitude has been one of the things that's helped make him a great player.

But now that the knee is iffy, I expect he will shy away from contact a little more...until he feels like it is at 100%.

Agreed, I think he's danagerous when he's moving because most guys aren't as big or fast as him.

He weighs 235 pounds now. But I agree, they need to coach him how to slide and how to fall when scrambling out of the pocket.

I think after this injury... you will see him start sliding...

This is kind of a catch-22. Daunte avoiding contact would take away from his biggest attribute over other QB's. But Daunte getting hit increases injury chance, and with our back-up being Lemon, we can't afford that. It's similar to what the coaches at Michigan State where going through with Stanton last year.

He's a big guy. Let him do his thing if his knee is 100%

He's a QB he is not paid to hit people. He needs to learn that.

That is true because most BIG QBs are 220 pounds. They should shy away from injury they are so tiny. When you are HUGE, you tend to believe you can take a hit or two.
