It blows my mind That They dont have Tedd Ginn returning Kick Offs and Punts!!!

Over the last couple seasons he is the only dolphin that has broke one for a TD even if it got called back. bess has done sh.t on punts and cobbs has done nothing on kick offs.

In college ginn was a machine on the returns. that's what he was know for. I think its stupid that he is not back there and they should wake up and get him back there and get some excitement back in our return game..

check the video. the guy is a weapon!!!!

Ginn has been a threat to take it to the house everytime he's touched the ball through his career, but he seems to have regressed alot.

For some reason, whether fear or loss of confidence or w/e, he's not been the explosive player he was in college or started out being as a rook on kick returns.

Maybe it's coachable. Maybe the coaches feel that since he's our number one reciever (not saying he is ... just that, thats the position he's in), it's not worth the injury risk.

W/e the reason, I'd love to see the Ginn that returned kicks in college and started out returning kicks for us, re-emerge.

I think the difference is the speed of the game from college to pro. Even on Special teams. When you have 5-6 opponents waiting for you at the 15 yard line people are hauling arse. Ginn is what they call a "long strider" and takes longer to get full speed than a "quicker" player like Bess or Cobbs. In space Ginn's your man, but with the opponents bearing down on you like they do in the NFL. He's all to often running horizontal and looking for the edge that just isn't there. I think the coaches have decided it's better to use a quick north and south runner than wait for that once or twice a year scenario that would allow Ginn to find the space he needs to blow past everybody. Me.... I'd like to see both of them back and perhaps a reverse on a kickoff that would draw everyone in to Bess or Cobbs and perhaps thus allow Ginn to hit the edge on the reverse. .... but's that's a long shot as well.

Cobbs definitely brings that on KO returns. He takes the ball right up the middle of the football every time. Ginn is very tentative and as you said he always goes toward the edge where he gets pushed out toward the sideline. I would much rather have Cobbs handling KO duties.

On punt returns it is obvious that the coaches trust Bess to be back there to handle the football as opposed to Ginn. They just feel more comfortable with his decision making and his ability to hang on to the football. Ginn made some bad decisions feilding punts early last season and landed himself in the proverbial doghouse as a punt returner. I like a guy with good hands as a punt returner. Bess is the safe choice.

I agree with the seeming regression of Ginn....and the fact that we can't block air on KO returns. We need someone a bit sturdier back there.

Maybe the 3 fumbles in 2007
maybe the 5 fumbles in 2008
only one was lost but with a record of poor ball control in all facets of the game...
why would mgmt have 1 oz. of confidence in his return skills.

Never mind watching him run east/west instead of straight up field.
Never mind someone who is a bit gun shy regarding returns

PLEASE-I know all the fumbles were not on kick returns so save your breath

Ginn had 6 punt returns for TDs in his college career
but 4 came in his first season...after teams figured out Ted Ginn he only had 2 punt returns his entire college career.

He also had 2 kickoff returns for Tds on 38 returns(per cbssports.com)not exactly something to write home about

Oh he was... not regularly.. but he has... to the same result as other players who've returned kicks. It seems to me that Ginn take so long to get upto speed. He's a one cut n' fly type guy, and isn't shifty enough to make guys miss in close quarters.

No offense, but I think some of you are nuts. Ginn has shown the ability at every level to take one to the house at any moment. The only thing Cobbs does is run in a straight line until he gets tackled. I'm sick of constantly getting the ball at the 20 yard line. With Ginn he might only get you to the 15 sometimes because he's running sideways trying to make a play but I'd take 15, 17, 15, 20, Touchdown over 20, 20, 20, 20, 20...... What I really don't understand is why when we need a big play they don't put him back there. Ok Cobbs might get you a few more yards consistently but when our offense is struggling and we need a score what the hell does it hurt to put Ginn on a KR

ginn is getting double coverage to.they are rolling over the top on him,and probably even more with henne now.who are they going to worry about other than ginn?when are they going to put him in motion to free him up?anybody remember how they helped chambers to the pro bowl by doing this.

Didn't Ginn return almost every kick in game 1?

it doesnt matter who returns the kick...itll just get called back because of a BS holding penalty.

It's the blocking, notice Cobbs can't even break anything past the 25...

Cobbs had a 60 yrd kickoff return last season in KC. Nearly broke it. He has the ability to take it just needs some lanes.

I agree with the OP, Ginn needs to be returning kicks because he does have the ability to take it to the house as evidenced in the last couple of years. Besides, Bess is slow as hell, we know he will run it back at most 10-15 yds, and with Cobbs he won't make it past the 20-25 yard line.
