I was listening to (a feeling-good) Joe Rose commentate practice when Ryan went down last year, it was horrible to listen to. Our season died the second he went down

Very pleased to be able to say that todays pratice went much better.

And for me the biggest blight on Gase was thinking that Jay Cutler was worth 10 million dollars extra than just playing Moore.

In fairness to Gase, I don’t Think anybody thought the shoulder surgery would take so much away from Cutler’s arm. He has made a career of flinging the ball without his feet set and relying on his arm to make plays and it just wasn’t there.

The 2015 version of Cutler has us in the hunt for a playoff spot. That QB is better than Matt Moore . . .we just never saw that QB, only glimpses.

Hindsight certainly we should not have done the deal.

man you're a joy kill.....lol

As for the anniversary I don’t believe anybody thought it was that bad when it happened.

It’s just crazy to go from attempting to play in a playoff game, to rehabbing it and declaring it as strong as surgery would get it, to getting injured on his first real movement of camp. Just poorly handled in the end.

If anybody can recover it’s this dude tho.

Surely they need to do due diligence though? Work the guy out ... and for flip sake they should see it there!

Correct me if i'm wrong but i am under the impression the "blown ACL" didnt actually tear until the doctor's did it surgically.

I don't think his on field injury was the actual ACL but that the injury required the ACL repair to strengthen the knee.

I agree that was probably the worst coaching decision thus far. However, if he stuck with Matt Moore and/or Fales that simply demonstrates that he had given up on the season. It would resulted in down ticket sales and playing for draft.

You didn't need 2017 hindsight we had 11 years worth of it. 2011 Cutler didn't even have the Bears in a serious playoff hunt and the 2015 Bears had a better defense and waaay better run game than the 2017 Dolphins.

Hence my issue with this decision of Gase. Hindsight was not necessary. How could he not see what the average fan could see? If Cutler had gone to the Jets we would have been licking our chops and LOLing at them so much. Cutler could give you no more than Moore but for 10 million more. Wait, actually Moore pulled one victory out for us that Cutler squarely had in the jaws of defeat.

I watched all 16 games of the 2015 Bears and Cutler definitely wasn't the problem. Their defense honestly was not very good, they were plagued by injuries, etc.

Cutler honestly was pretty okay in 2015. Really what killed any chances the Bears had of sniffing a wild card spot was that Cutler got hurt and their backup was Jimmy Clausen. Jimmy Clausen is legitimately the worst quarterback I have ever seen in live NFL action. The Bears basically just stopped cold when Cutler got hurt. I think he missed 6 quarters in total and I think the Bears scored 3 points in those six quarters... thanks to a turnover. Go watch the 2015 Bears vs Seahawks game if you want to see what truly inept NFL quarterbacking looks like.

Sorry, off topic I guess. I'm just saying that I think Gase made the best move he could make at the time, and it didn't work out.
