Our offense is pretty solid all around. We have young weapons at wr and te and are solid on the oline and rb.

The main concern is a true playmaking WR. The way to approach this is through free agency- NOT THE DRAFT. We are not a superbowl bound team that can afford to draft first round wrs. We all know how the ted ginn experiment worked out.

Draft defensive playmakers early.

And Find the best WR in free agency and give him a huge contract.

Here is a list of the free agent wrs:

Wide Receivers

Brandon Marshall, Broncos
Greg Jennings, Packers
Roddy White, Falcons
Terrell Owens, Bills
Braylon Edwards, Browns
Vincent Jackson, Chargers
Antonio Bryant, Buccaneers
Kevin Walter, Texans
Chris Chambers, Chargers
Lance Moore, Saints
Steve Breaston, Cardinals (RFA)
Muhsin Muhammad, Panthers
Derrick Mason, Ravens
Miles Austin, Cowboys
Domenik Hixon, Giants
Mark Bradley, Chiefs
Mark Clayton, Ravens
Chris Henry, Bengals
Isaac Bruce, 49ers
Brad Smith, Jets
Nate Burleson, Seahawks (Voidable Year)
Malcom Floyd, Chargers
Joey Galloway, Patriots
Ben Obomanu, Seahawks (RFA)
Demetrius Williams, Ravens
Jason Avant, Eagles

I've never seen so much fail in one thread.

Marshall and Jackson wont be FAs if there isn't a new CBA agreement which in all likely hood there wont be.

Roddy White and Greg Jennings have both signed extensions.

There's also not a snowball's chance in hell Miles Austin will reach Free Agency either.

Realistically, I could see us getting Antonio Bryant. Jason Avant is also a WR that may be worth a look.

ESPN had an article for insider's about the Jets NOT resigning Edwards. He might be worth a look too.

This obviously a need that must be addressed in the offseason or else the Dolphins face similar offensive difficulties in 2010. It can be argued that two or three receivers currently on the roster are worth keeping as number three, maybe even number two, receivers. Chad Henne is in dire need of a big target that consistently catches and breaks loose for yards after the catch.

I'm not sure if the draft pool and Miami's draft position will give the Fins a legit chance at drafting a great WR prospect. Either way, it is unlikely for any rookie receiver to step in as a number one in his first NFL season.

The Trifecta will need to work some trade magic if they do not go after any free agent WRs. If that is not the case, expect backlash from the fans as it will be the third season in which Miami decides to ignore the WR position.

imo,

1st- Dez Bryant 2nd- Gresham 3rd- Shipley

(trade up in 2nd if necessary)
would make this offense elite for many many years.

So you need to be a SB contender to draft a WR in the 1st round??? I'm sorry but that is a pretty ridiculous line of thinking.

Yes we need a WR, but we need more than just a WR on our offense! We will need to look for a RB and for a dominating TE. Ronnie is not guaranteed next year, Ricky is another year older, Cobbs will be tentative when he gets back, and Hilliard has not proven anything! As far as TE, our current first string players would just be good depth on other teams.

I mentioned this in another thread and even though he isn't a FA, how about trading for Boldin? He's a top notch WR that's not happy in AZ and wants out due to contract issues. You might be able to get him for a 2nd rounder and he would fill your need for a #1 WR.

Just pray for a CBA agreement to be reached. It'd be real hard for the Chargers to hang on to Jackson with all those players hitting Free Agency.

ahhh another FA thread

do you believe in the easter bunny and Santa Claus too?:rolleyes2:

No doubt our WR corps needs desperate upgrading. Definitely need to take a chance on a free agent with some experience, San Diego's Jackson would be sweet as he can stretch the field, out jump most DB's and be a legitamate red zone threat. NONE of our receivers can do that. We have a crew of short route, to intermediate route runners who scare nobody.

Let's have the greatest offense and lose in the playoffs every year because our defense can't stop anyone. If offense was the be all end all then P.Manning would have 4 or 5 Superbowls by now. They win 12 games every year and then when it counts the most, when defenses come to play and they lose alot more then they win. Yes they broke through and won 1 when B.Sanders was the defensive MVP and the rest of their defense played great.

NE won three when their defense was feared by most teams, they had a awesome Dline, excellent LBer's and a shut down secondary. Now since they have amped up their offense and the defense has gotten weaker every year they haven't won one. I see a trend there, shore up the defense and improve the offense and we too can have multiple success stories. But don't think a number 1 receiver is the be all end all because you'll be dissappointed alot when defenses shut him down in the playoffs.

It is crazy talking about this now. We have no idea who will be on the market. We don't even know if a CBA will be reached or not. One thing I am very curious about is, if there is no new CBA reached can teams still franchise players? If not Brandon Marshall should hit the market, if they can look for him to be franchised then Denver will make someone trade for him.

I agree WR is important in FA, and not in the draft. You never know what you are getting with a WR in the draft, see Detroit for proof of that. Miami needs a sure thing, so free agency is the only option at WR. The problem is WRs will be weary of Miami because they do not know what they are getting at QB, and our running game is the focus.

I also think a ILB who can be the QB of this defense is important. At best Crowder is the #2 at ILB not the #1. We need a guy like Zach who can lead and call a good game, but someone who can cover a TE. I think this is just as important as finding a WR.

Marshall wont hit the FA market if there isn't a CBA because he'd become a RFA.

of all the ones on that list i will go hard after edwards, that is maybe why bp did not give up ronnie for him, maybe he knew that the jets were intrested, he knew they would resign him, and that is how he will become a fin, imagine that edwards, ginn, bess, hartline, camarillo, turner? I would actually move ginn around in the y and z.
