Only one QB has thrown more 40-plus yard passes than Ryan Tannehill this season

But they arent moon balls according to awsi...give me a break with that bs :bobdole:
 
Many out there will just chalk it up to YAC since we all know Tannehill is too dumb and not even close to being athletic enough to pass a ball more than 5 yards...smdh
 
Some of that is YAC. But overall, Tannehill's deep ball has been better this year.

True and thats fine provided you acknowledge that those yac are a function of the offense by design which is exactly what it is...
 
Deep ball is definitely much improved, but he may have spent so much time on that, that he's regressed in other areas

BS. Take away every receiver's YAC and their respective quarterback's numbers look a lot worse. Roethlisberger's receivers get him YAC, Rodgers' receivers get him YAC, Brady's receivers get him YAC. But since we all love to put Tannehill under the microscope, his stat means less because his players get yac and the ball wasn't placed perfectly up his receiver's rectum.
 
Anyone with eyes can see Tannehill has improved his deep ball. You can even see there is a different trajectory to his passes deep. I think it was mentioned Al Saunders helped adjust his timing.

If the Dolphins drafted Tim Tebow the fans would be giving him the same treatment they are giving Tannehill.
 
While the stat is interesting.....you can see it with your own eyes while watching the games. It is much better this year.

Now, perhaps we should start throwing it more? We are still only trying 2-3 times a game. Lets take some more shots....
 
As you can see here, Ryan's passing numbers when accounting for YAC are right in line with pretty much everyone else. It's apparently the new thing this year to claim that whenever Tannehill has any good passing stats, it must be b/c his WRs did everthing and he is only throwing 5 yards.

QBs with a lower % of "air yards": Carr, Brady, Cutler, Bridgewater, Stafford, Flacco, Brees, Rodgers, Rivers, etc.

I would like to see our deep attempts to go up in frequency as well, and some runs to replace some of this short passing nonsense we do, and we'd see these numbers be higher in terms of air yards/attempt.
