Hey all you arm chair GMs. I think you have to trust that the FO has a better handle on the situation than any of us do. They have more information on what our options are as well as what DC has or hasn't done. I for one was hoping for Brees. He didn't cost a draft pick and I thought (when healthy) he was an ideal QB type. Saban chose DC and I supported that choice.

You can't look back at what could have been. You also can't look back on what something cost you. IT DOESN'T MATTER. In accounting terms this is called SUNK COSTS. All that matter is what is the current value regardless of what you paid for it. If any of you have invested in stocks, you don't hang onto a stock just because it went down and you paid more for it. If you should sell it, then it doesn't matter what you paid. The same thing applies to players.

The FO (and coaches) have now had some time to be around DC. They have had some game situations and the ability to talk strategy with him. They have seen what he could do and what he couldn't. Look Carson Palmer had a pretty serious knee injury as well. He came back quicker than DC and was successful. Why? Because he must have some qualities that DC doesn't. I can understand why the FO would be concerned. In the NFL every year is important and you don't have time to hope that things work.

I don't think we are going to get much for DC at this point. My understanding is that whether we keep DC or cut him, there won't be much of a salary cap hit. If I was GM (my turn to be armchair QB and I am hoping they are thinking this), I would do one of two things:

One, offer DC to be a free agent if he returns the proration of his signing bonus. Or two, tell him he will be on the team this year, but will be put on the injured reserve. Next year, his value will be higher assuming he has fully healed. Some team that had their QB go down in flames will be interested.

However, whatever the FO decides to do, I will support them. Let's stop all this bickering and realize that DC is not going to play for the dolphins. We need to get behind our QB and support our team.

I'll still wonder about what could have been. But I really just wish the saga would end and we could actually focus on how the team we currently have is coming together.

Finally a smart post... Not a day too soon... You're right... Cam Cameron knows more about QBs than any of us... And if he feels like Green could help this team out right now, why not trust him?? He's got a proven track record, that's why we hired him... And speaking of QBs... Cleo Lemon is looking awfully good in these minicamps....

YEAH! Screw DC and he's crying about not wanting to get released.

The main point of this whole situation, and of course this is just my opinion, is that Cameron and Mueller don't see Green or Culpepper as the future of this franchise. If Beck is all that they believe he is then he will fill that roll. If not, I am sure we will see more quarterbacks drafted than we have seen in a long time. Green is a temporary fix and the future face of the Dolphins is either on the bench or yet to be drafted.

As far as DC is concerned, he came to Miami as an injured quarterback and has collected a very large paycheck to rehab. The Miami Dolphins don't owe him anything. If anything is owed, it is Culpepper who owes the Dolphins for taking a chance on him with a very serious knee injury when it was obvious the Vikes didn't want him. Cameron and Mueller surely do not owe Culpepper anything as neither had anything to do with Culpepper being in Miami and Culpepper was not the starting quarterback last year nor when they arrived.
I would like to see the Dolphins recoup something for the 2nd round pick we used on him, but truthfully, I wish the Dolphins would release him so all of this can be put behind the Dolphins and we can move on.

:goodpost: Couldn't agree with you more.

Geez, judging by the thread title I thought Culpepper actually was gone. But then again, there would have been two dozen threads up by now.

Not much of a cap hit????????????????????????????????????????????????????

Are you crazy?????????????????????????

Don't you get it it all??

Just because it is possible to defer some of the hit to next year doesn't mean it is going away. IT WILL COST US NEXT YEAR!

If we want to be a player in free agency next year we need to eat the whole of the dead money this year.

Besides, we already have to deal with dead cap from Carter,McMichael,James,
Mckinnie, and others.

If we don't deal with some of this dead money this year we are on our way to cap hell in the future.

This is the primary reason I advocate trading Marty Booker. 3.5 million goes a long way towards eating the 5.5 mil of Daunte's cap hit.

Reality hurts sometimes. This team has made horrible decisions in the last few years. I'm amazed at the progress already made by Cam and freinds but if are going to make a run for the prize in 2008 we have to pay the price.
