Reading through an article, I notice this:

''I'm not going to sit here and take any shots at any past coaching staffs,'' Taylor said. ``Everyone knows I love Nick -- I've loved every head coach I've had, so I'm not going to take shots.

I am not going to take shots? Didn't you just do that? Not looking too deeply into the psyche of Taylor, the guy seems overtly bummed about Saban leaving Miami. I am with you, Jason. I hate the guy left Miami. We all do. But do you have to almost undermine the current head coach for a decision made outside of his control? Panning down further in the article, Jason "sticks up" for Fred Evans, a guy he claims to talk to almost everyday. I understand he's your buddy, but YOU cannot control his actions nor should you defend him by saying, "he just made a mistake like we all do." The guy roughed up a police officer! He was subdued via high-voltage stun gun! You are better than that, JT.

Even if he is your friend and you are trying to get his name out there, you should not claim that this is a mistake WE ALL make. To whom are you referring? The general public? I've never roughed up, or have been roughed up, by a police officer (Well, if you exclude this one bachelor party, but I do not think she was a real 'officer of the law'). Are you saying NFL players notoriously make these mistakes? Looking at the recent face of the NFL, I might be with you on that one. But Cam did what he had to do. Evans was on probation from another run-in with the law in Texas. Evans made the decision to lose his job. Not Cam. You should not publicly support a guy who makes poor judgement.

Jason, I understand your frustration. You've played for Jimmy, Wanny, Bates, Saban, and now Cam. That equates to a new head coach every 2.20 years! And nearly every year you have played, a promise to the "Promised Land" is in order. And every year, you are let down. I am not saying this is the year, but PLEASE, do not get so frustrated that it affects your play on the field. We love you, man. Do not lose your integrity! Go have a smoothie and chill out.....

In closing....

I will have to say that I may just be blowing this out of proportion. It will be interesting to see how Jason handles training camp and how he plays throughout the year. We should all take note and look a little deeper into what he is saying publicly. The guy is frustrated. He contemplated retirement last year. Was is really because of his lingering back issues, or was it because Little Nicky died and went back to hell? The "I love Nick" comment points to the latter. If Jason does not like what he sees in Cam, I would suspect retirement or a trade at the end of the year. I still think Jason has a few more years left in the tank, but this year is probably his most crucial in years recent. But do not fret fellow Fin fans, for if he does retire, we may just see him on the big screen. He has flirted with the idea of acting in the past. Would a cameo in an Adam Sandler-produced movie be out of the question? We will have to wait and see....

Um, how do you think what he said was taking shots? I do not see how it is taking shots. Basically all he said was he was sad to see him leave, thats no big deal, thats how EVERY NFL player talks about past coaches. Noone ever bashes anyone (minus roth), its unprofessional to bash ex coaches and players and we rarely ever hear anyone doing it.

We all hate that the guy left Miami..Speak for yourself...Im glad this joke of a man is gone.. 15-17, he was not a good NFL head coach by any means. Maybe he wuld make a good coordinator, but head coach, he is not.

Yeah also kinda makes you wonder how his relationship with Roth is who isn't afraid to rip "that Saban Guy". I wonder how that carries over into their relationship. You have to understand though that Saban took Taylors game to the next level, he was a great DE now he is just a great defensive player all together.

Why are you chastising Taylor for taking the high road??? It's obvious the media wanted him to take a parting shot at Saban, and he didn't want to play.

Worst post ever

Yes but how much of it was Saban and how much of it was Capers. Saban installed the defense but Capers was the D-coordinator. We still have the same coordinator with the same scheme. I dont think his productivity will change at all

Hmm... Well, I'll tell you one thing. As I listened to the presser, I had a feeling someone may get this sense. But all I could think of as I heard what he had to say, was "Classic JT". And it really was. Brutally honest. Not necessarily what the media needed him to say to make a story. Just honest and from the heart. The guy is within his rights to love Nick. Look at what he did for his career. Now, can he duplicate it with Dom running the show full time? Theres no doubt. But its Nick that got him into this hybrid role and truly enhanced what was already a terrific career. Its the same reason all the defensive players, and particularly JT and Zach who have been lifelong Fins in our previous vanilla scheme, were so pleased to see Coach Capers return. Its nothing personal, (Well, I shouldnt say that, Im sure hes a great guy...) but its mostly professional. He does a lot for them as football players.

I think that Jason pretty much refused to take the bait. Kudos to him, I suppose. I have no problem with it, but nor do I have any problem with Matt Roth ripping "that Saban guy". Probably a difference of maturity there, but I personally like that mindset. Not here, dont care about him. Lets not forget he abandoned these kids. Some may take it more personally than others. To each his own.

As for Fred Evans, again, he was being honest. I do remember all of our veteran defensive linemen raving about the kid. They genuinely liked him. Just as they do Matt Roth. It is not easy to enter a position meeting with JT, Vonnie, Kevin Carter, Truck, Big Daddy Wilkinson, Zgonina... and be the lone rook. Both guys (Matt and Fred) managed to do so, and thats commendable. Why lie about it? Why make a phony statement about Fred, or some standard "We wish him the best". If you talk to him, theres nothing wrong with that. He was released from the Dolphins, not from JT. Does he still speak to DBo? KC? They are no longer Dolphins, is that undermining Cam?

So, I think the reason JT is often involved in these types of things (i.e. fans or the media taking his words and making a fuss about them [not that your post doesnt have merit, believe me, Im sure many share your view]) is because of his brutal honesty. You get his real thoughts, and to tell you the truth, its kind of refreshing.

I really didn't see anything wrong with what JT said. He wasn't trying to control Fred. He just stated the guy made a mistake or bad decision...like we all do sometimes.

Obviously, every Miami fan is pissed at the manner in which Saban left, but does that mean he was a bad head coach? We can all point out the mistakes made by Saban now, but he did bring a new attitude to South Florida that was not there before. I thought he was doing a good job, of course, last year's performance points otherwise. When Saban was brought in, I truly thought Miami was going to make a good run at the Pats for the AFC East title. How many years was that going to take? I thought in Year 3 that would happen. Many "experts" picked Miami as the AFC favorite last year!

Was I mad because he left? Yes, but only because I thought he left the job unfinished.

I agree, but just look at the stats. He wasnt THAT GOOD of a coach. Listen to what the players have said about him this year. How much more productive of an atmosphere it is. Looking back, the only reason we went 9-7 was because of that stretch we went on last year was a horrible year so IMO there was nothing pointing to us being a contender in 2007 under Saban. Yes, he did make the defense better. I will give him that, but overall, he was a crappy coach

Trust me, I understand what JT is saying, but there are ways of supporting a friend through the media without necessarily 'supporting' his actions. He should know this. Do I think JT supports what Evans did? No. But it surely seems like it by what he said and how he said it. JT knows better.....

Yeah, this post gets my vote as one of the worst post this offseason. trying to hard to make something out of nothing.

How exactly could Jason rip Saban, since he won DPOY under him. Do you really think he would throw him under the bus. Now that would have been classless ...

WRT Evans ... well, its hard not to let personal feelings cloud your perspective ... heck, we as fans do the same thing when players are cut, traded, etc ... so lets not blast Jason.

Saban came into a really bad situation, I'll give him that. But the mistakes he made may affect this franchise for a few years to come. Enemy number one: Daunte. Man, was I happy when they brought him in. I was actually glad that they did not take Brees. Whew, what a mistake! Not drafting a QB was another mistake. Letting Mularkey call the plays = mistake!

But he did leave Miami with a talented young group of guys. He is much like Jimmy Johnson in that he will take chances on talented (but misguided) players, but also has the eye for talent. Daniels looked promising his rookie season. I love Ronnie Brown and hope he can do well in this offense. Crowder has been solid, if unspectacular. So there was some good from the Saban-era.

I guess with Saban, we fans just wanted a playoff run. We got teased in year one, and prior to year two, we were teased by the media picking us to take the reign from the Pats. I just want a playoff run! That's all. No Super Bowl. Just a run. Bring that back to Miami and the fans will be happy.....

I just don't see it at all. It just doesn't seem like JT supports what the guy did. How can you insinuate that JT supports something like that when he has never been in any trouble??

If the guy is calling JT everyday, I'm sure most of it is for encouragement. Fred is probably leaning on JT for advice on how to pick up the pieces and move on.
