Jarvis Landry said this offseason that the Miami Dolphins will sweep New England this year, because “they’re not our big brother anymore.” Newcomer Lawrence Timmons called Ndamukong Suh, “the best defensive tackle ever.”
Second-year cornerback Xavien Howard says DeVante Parker, “can be the best receiver in the league.”
You can’t take a step around the Dolphins without someone mentioning playoffs or even, ahem, Super Bowl.
Enthusiasm is fun, and optimism is fine. They’re expected, even. But let’s temper the talk over the Dolphins’ sparkling future after reaching the playoffs last year with this history lesson: The 2008 Dolphins.
You remember them?

I guess he can go report on the Jets, where they know the season is over before it starts. I'll be watching my team hoping to win a few tuff games, and expecting them to win the Easyer, games.

There is always optimism before the season starts. Hopefully the players aren't drinking too much kool-aid and are ready to go from the start. Too many seasons the phins aren't ready to play from the start.

I'm optimistic. There are holes and certainly concerns about the defense, both in scheme and talent.

I feel like the offense will have to carry the defense this year, but Miami might have the talent on that side of the ball to do just that. I think we'll see a lot of high scoring games.

really don't get the point of an article that serves as a reminder for dolphin fans to temper expectations....like yea no **** we've been here a while.
Maybe he is trying to avoid mass suicide

There is reason to be optimistic until you remember Mr Pick 6 is playing QB for us.

There's ALWAYS holes on every team even the ones that win the Championship. Our squad has major talent at most of the important positions. The key is for the guys that we expect to play well, they need to take it to the next level. Then the spots where we have holes, we just need somebody to step up. We are definitely talented enough to make some noise if we get in, I truly believe that. The way I look at it is this...If Belichick was coaching our squad I think the view on us would be that of a superbowl contender...now I don't know how far Gase is from him but I know he's at least on the right track.

Belichick runs the Patriots from top to bottom and is a staunch believer in defense. There's an enormous gap b/w the two coaches in just that latter point alone.
