I realize that everyone is depressed (as well you should be) but I cant help but notice all the negative threads being started: Saban sucks, Fire Mularkey, Season is over, etc. But most true fans here realized that this team would be a work in progress. I too am dissapointed, but am also a life-long fan. I've stuck with this team through good and bad in hopes that one day my loyalty would pay off with a SB win someday...but thats the key-word, someday.

Chamionship teams are not built overnight. Or over one year for that matter. I know it's hard to be patient after watching pathetic performances for 3 1/2 games (I thought we played Pitt. tough most of that first game), but we gotta ride this out. Vent, rant, do what you need to do. But keep the faith in this team and it's coach...I still think we gotta good one boys and girls.

i'm with you man, but its definately a tough sell after this game

But most true fans here realized that this team would be a work in progress.

theres that phrase again....criticizing the team does not make you a non fan....it makes you an honest fan...sitting here thinking everything is fine is just dumb. you need to put the kool aid down, take the blinders off and see this team is not very good. up and down the lineup its bad.

if we were struggling against mediocre teams I would be right there with you. But a work in progress is supposed to do just that....progress. We are struggling (and losing) against the worst teams in the league.

Not much reason for optimism there.
As for faith in the coach.... faith is belief without proof. Fine, I can do that..for a while anyway. But it gets pretty difficult to believe in the coaches when they consistantly provide proof to the contrary.

Its not a question of sticking with the team through good and bad. Regardless of how bad we play, I watch each and every game from beginning to end. I buy NFL Sunday Ticket just for the Fins. I do not even have a 2nd favorite team because I am a Diehard Fin Fan and dont care about any other team unless it affects the fins in some way. But with all that said we really do suck as a team. I have faith but we have looked flat, undiciplined and overmatched in each and every one of our games this year. Actually, the Titans should have beaten us. We were lucky to win that one. I'm just looking for something to get excited about every week and can never find anything. We are bad and have a long way to go before we will be a winner. We have to upgrade more positions then I once thought.

Read my post agin dude, I never said it makes you a non-fan. Im pretty sure I said true-fans realized the team would be a work in progress and were not a serious SB contender this season. You and I both know that while the forum was bogged down with "Dolphin are gonna win the Super Bowl" threads most of the intelligent fans on this site knew that would be close to a miracle. Also when you read the post again, try to pickup the theme that Im bascially saying this team is bad, but am trying to put an optimistic spin on the situation. As true fans usually try to do. Thx.

I can appreciate a fans criticism, just ate when it all comes down on one guy.

Exactly, it is a fans right to crticize their team if they feel it's warranted, but if you're gonna post something on this site try to make it constructive in some way. I get tired of reading the same posts over and over again that only seem to state the obvious...but maybe Im the only one.

You know what, You really cant come in here after such a tragic loss and start talking about optimisim. You have to let people vent. maybe on Wednesday or Thursday you can pull that off but it hurts too much right now. With all due respect to the poster you are just asking for trouble. There is absolutly no call whatsoever for us to be optomistic about anything at this point until Nick Saban gives us a reason to be. We Suck!

lets be opptimistic. we have a really bad o-line, a very old front 7 on defense and a qb who may or may not be damaged goods. however, just cause we are really bad this year does not mean we will be bad next year. maybe c-pepp shapes up, we revamp the o-line and infuse some youth and more talent on d. the thing that bothers me is i don't feel like waiting another year. but i guess i have no choice.

Maybe you're right. Maybe playing sports my whole life Ive learned you cant live and die on every game. Hopefully the guys in the lockerroom think the the same way I do.

If there is one thing I've learned from this season, it's to never expect anything in this league. Also, last year means nothing, you're only as good as your last game and in our case you really can't go back to a season ago.

I agree with all you said, however I said back when the choice was made that it was a mistake not to take Brees. That is now water under the bridge and I will support C-pep because he is our QB, just like I supported Jay Fielder. But just like Jay, I think it is pretty easy to see Pep does not have what it takes to read D and make the adjustments to play winning FB. Basically he is a larger more accurate Rob Johnson. Now we have him he is gonna be here for the next 5 years. That means his replacement won't be here. I for one was all for trading up and taking Jay Cutler, but that too is now water under the bridge. What we have is what we have and it isn't gonna take us to a SB any time in the next 5 years. It is kinda depressing to hear things like Cpep has won something like 8 of his last 33 games or whatever, but what we have is what we have.
The part that is hard to swallow is it is better to be 1-15 than 8-8. You have to be horrible to get the best players in the draft and I see us ending up about 6-10 and not getting a top 10 pick. Even then I wonder if we will get a QB or continue wasting our time with what we have.

Oh man, this is good stuff.

Anyway, the key word isn't someday, its progress.

The intelligent fan knows that teams aren't built overnight and they are a work in progress. They start from wherever they are (in this case 4-12 and a losers attitude) and the progress from there. They don't go 4-12, go out and get a bunch of old players and go 9-7 and then keep getting older, trade away draft picks for loser QBs and go 3-13.

We didn't progress, we "regressed". No team has ever lost to Buffalo and the Texans in the same season and won a SB.

And as for those who think we'll be better next year....who on our defense is going to start playing better? T.Daniels, maybe? J. Allen? Everyone else is as good as they are going to get. As a matter of fact, most on the D are going to start going downhill.

These are sorry times to be a Fins fan. We are going 3-13 (if we're lucky) and we need to take urgent immediate action to get this franchise turned around. Firing the substandard coaches would be a great first step.

I'll go one step further...

these 'true fans' are part of the problem. Year after year, they rationalize the team's struggles away...and we never ever build in the right way starting from scratch.

Well guess what...that is exactly what we need to do. Look at this team and tell me what we have...aging superstars in Jason Taylor and Zach Thomas...a cripple for a quarterback and a running back who is overpaid by about 51 million dollars.

Oh and a wide receiver who is maddeningly inconsistent.
