Still, Peyton Manning's backup hasn't forgotten about the talented quarterback tutor who helped shape his young NFL career: Adam Gase, the newly anointed coach of the Miami Dolphins.

"First off, I love coach Gase," Osweiler said Monday. "He's a tremendous coach and a tremendous person and I'm sure he'll do great things down in Miami."

Gase is tasked with turning around a Dolphins franchise saddled with problems on defense and a moribund offense. After pairing brilliantly with Manning in Denver and nursing a productive campaign last season out of Chicago's Jay Cutler, can Gase flip the switch on Dolphins signal-caller Ryan Tannehill?

"Absolutely," Osweiler said, emphasizing that nobody should be surprised about Gase's rapid rise. "I think coach Gase is one of the most brilliant minds in football, so having him be the head coach of the Miami Dolphins now does not come as a surprise to me."

Osweiler went out of his way to credit Gase with helping him adjust to the NFL world. If Miami's coach can do the same for Tannehill, his reputation as a quarterback whisperer will be carved into stone.

It doesn't help his case that Osweiler seemed to regress late and get himself benched again. Still, only for Peyton Manning would that have happened. Brock Osweiler is a starting QB in the NFL, IMO.

Maybe they need to bring Osweiler here. I actually was hoping the phins would've drafted him if they didn't go the Tannehill route.

Aaron Rogers had lots of nice things to say about Joe Philbin. Can somebody please remind me how many extra wins the Dolphins had over the last few seasons because of Aaron Roger's nice words?

Nice words are irrelevant. Wins are the only thing that matters.

I have been waiting twenty long years for this team to transcend its mediocrity. Twenty long years. At this point nobody gets the benefit of any doubt. Wins are the only thing that matters.

Thats cool. Interesting to hear from the backup guy during Gase's time. Rottweiler may have to play in the SB if Carolina pulls away and Manning can't move the O. Just saying.

I believe Case will get RT to where we need him. I feel much better about this hire than I did about Joe.

Get in the back of the line young buck.

Young buck? I've been following the team since 1970.

Thanks for your post SOS -- it's the first thing about this team that has given me a smile in a long while.

Exactly what I was thinking. Oh to have never gotten to "enjoy" all those years we pissed away having arguably the best an ever only to not get him a running back or a defense while thinking this next guy will be that back or this guy will make the D so much better. At least with Fiedler and the list of scrubs we trotted out there following him we never really had to get that excited thinking we were going to win the big game.

It means take it with a grain of salt. Gase might be a really good coach...hell, I'll be thrilled if he is. But we've heard this before with Drew Brees and Trent Green gushing over Cam Cameron as well.

Shhhh, I wouldn't announce that out loud. If you've been watching football that long and still interpret situations such as,

Brock Osweiler has played on a professional football team that has had a WINNING SEASON.

. . . I would keep that to myself.
