This isn't meant to be a negative thread - we have enough of those but while we see our D as the strong point of the team we have to look at one simple truth here - What is the game plan of the other teams we play? Every game this year has been just painful to watch - just downright boring until the 4th qtr. Other teams are playing so conservative it's ridiculous! It seems their basic philosophy is simple - don't turn it over and play field possession and they will win. They take maybe 2 to 3 shots downfield and usually convert 1 to 2 and that is all they need. Why - because our offense is so bad they think we will eventually make a mistake they will be able to capitalize on. The Jets were brutal with their play calling and Chad was taking zero chances - it was almost ridiculous how conservative they seemed to be playing. Look at NE - Brady didn't force anything - simple conservative plays and punt as much as needed.
I'm not saying our D is not that good - but ain't as good as it is ranked. If a team played aggressive we would be in big trouble IMO. We are terrible on 3rd down because of our lack of pass rush and poor secondary play. Without a blitz we have minimal rush and when we blitz our secondary gets exposed. I'm frustrated with the lack of turnovers but I think one reason is because other teams don't force anything - they don't have to. When you press mistakes happen and nobody has had to press - we have 3 points in qtr 1 all season - we are always behind!

I agree with you but I think opposing teams might play conservative against us because they know our defense is good enough to make the big play if they try anything too risky.

Well I would agree if we actually have made any big plays. We have no history of making big plays. You look at the dominant D's and they make game changing plays - turnovers that either give the offense great field possession or score points. We rarely do that.

The teams in our division that know us definitely play us that way. I thinkwe'll see Green Bay attack us however. I would be surprised if they play us conservative

We shall see. You're theory could very well be proved next week. I'm positive the old man, Brett Favre" will not be playing conservative. If this post is accurate he should light it up.

Simple, run the foootball and be patient because our secndary will blow it.

Best time of the season to go for it on 4th and 1

Blitz..

dont be afraid to air it out
