Our first rounder will obviously be important especially if it is Cutler or Young, but the draft will ultimately be measured by finding the late round steals.

Sometime late on the second day of the draft when we hand in our card and find another Zach Thomas, Terrell Davis, Tom Brady. Those picks will decide if this team takes another step forward or just goes sideways.

I trust Saban's ability to pick and with Mueller helping we should be making good decisions.

True....Just take a look at this season's draft. I mean we DID get Roth and Crowder. They were great picks by Saban.

Plus we have already got a bit out of next years 5th round pick (Manny Wright), and indications are that he'll probably be better than the player that we could have got if we hadn't picked him in the supplemental draft.

Let's test that.

Do people judge 1983 by Keith Woetzel or even Mark Clayton? No.

Do people judge 2001 by Morlon Greenwood instead of Jamar Fletcher? No.

Do people judge 1997 by Ed Perry over Yatil Green? No.

I think you have a losing argument here.

Mueller/Saban will get us a Qb. Look what QBs Mueller had at NO at one time

The thing is late round picks are always important, not just this draft. The draft is deep with talent and starters can be picked in the 7th round. Either way first round picks hold substantially more importance than any other pick; no matter how you twist or turn it. When you take a guy in the first round it means you have alot of faith that he will be an excellent player in the league and for your team.

Considering we have no 5th or 6th round picks late picks will be hard to come by. Still Manny Wright should be used when we judge the drafts overall success same goes for Cleo Lemon!

Yep. First round picks are always extremely imporant. J.J. forgot that and so did Wanny...

Just for reference on Aaron Brooks. He has passed for 3500 yards 4 straight season until this one, which has been his worst of his career. Still, he is close to 3,000 yards on this season even with all the turmoil going on wit the Saints.

Also notice that he always throws more TD's than INTS with the exception of this year.

My biggest beef is his age. He is going on 30 an dnot really a QB we could build around. More like a stop gap for two years while a rookie develops behind. Personally, Ihave been impressed enough with Sage recently to warrant giving him a two year deal and a shot to compete in the preseason.

And to add to this quote.... we will win the majority of our games next year if we outscore our opponents....

How many picks do we have in the draft????

Yeah, but he didn't draft them at number 1.

I think Mueller will get a qb too, but lower in the draft. Saban really had a great draft, but Mueller wasn't a part of that. I'm curious as to how involved Saban will be, since that is really Mueller's job now...
