I dont understand why since 1970 the Miami Dolphins winning foundation has always centered around a franchise QB. First there was Bob Griese from 1970 - 1980. A couple of seasons of Woodley-Strock and we went out and got Dan Marino from 1983-1999.

Ever since 2000 this franchise and the fans have settled for garbage QBs from Fielder to Beck (blegh). Most inbetween have been subpar to plain terrible. All of them have come cheaply money wise. Draft pick wise yes we gave 2nd rounders stupidly for Feely and Culpepper. But since 1983 have not invested a No. 1 draft choice in a QB even though we have a desperate need.

Last Season Scam Cameron passed on a potential Franchise QB in Brady Quinn. You all know how I feel about Brady so I will not go into it.

This year another Mega QB is right there for the taking Matt Ryan. No one stands in front of us and there are those in the media that would like to see us continue to suffer with the likes of Josh McCown and John Beck (blegh).

One time I would like someone in this organization to have the marbles to say the buck stops here. We are drafting Matt Ryan No.1 and he is going to be the face of this franchise for the next decade. If SCAM would have done this last year there would be more hope going into this season. Even Wayne said on draft day that they better know what they are doing. Well SCAM and Mueller are not around anymore to F up any more drafts with the likes of Ginn and Beck who both hope to be average at best.

Who is with me? :hi5: Lets get on the draft Matt Ryan bandwagon. This team needs a leader to rally around. A new Dan Marino!!! If we got heartbroken last year after SCAM scammed us out of Brady Quinn. I know I was sobbing on the floor and was totally depressed until just recently.

I've got no problem with Ryan, he was really impressive on the final drive versus Va Tech with all kinds of pressure on him. I just hope we do our homework and take the best man for our team. I still would rather trade down.

I wouldnt throw Beck under the bus just yet,but i am rooting for Ryan as the pick....

I feel like we have other needs but at the same time I really would like to draft the franchise quarterback with the number 1 and hope for the best but its just to much of a risk and if it didnt work out we would be even more behind then what we are now. However, if we do take ryan I wont be too upset because at some point we have got to stop playin around and draft a number 1 quarterback. Beck has the potential but its no sure thing idk I like the long or long pick though

Honestly i think matt ryan is going to be a great QB i mean if he can lead this team to #2(at the time) ranked in the nation without no real recivers or a average running game and to hes mature perfect height weight yea he threw 19 picks but he threw it like 500 times and you get picked off a couple times when your wideouts cant get good seperation. If Bill thinks hes our guy i say take him but if not we have to go with Jake Long.

I think that we need to give beck a chance first. But matt looks really nice at #1

We can draft Ryan and still give Beck a chance. The QB position is wide open.My main worry is if we pass on Ryan and Beck doesnt pan out then we are going to be in this hole for a while.I would draft Ryan regardless.Look at the Chargers from a couple years ago with Brees and Rivers. It seemed to work out for them....

I don't care if we had Tom Brady as our quarterback last year, we still would have been 1-15. That offense was pitiful, the defense was worse. You can't throw a #1 pick at a quarterback and expect results. You can't reach on a guy just because you want a quarterback and want to give up on a rookie. What happens when Matt Ryan flops and we are picking in the top 5 next year, are you going to be calling for Tim Tebow? I am a believer that we have found a quarterback in John Beck that we can start to build a team around. Yes he is 26, but hell Jeff Garcia made his first career start at 29. Don't give up on John Beck yet, watch the film from his games; you will notice that seemingly each of his throws are either: A. A crisp throw for a competion, B. A throw rushed by pressure C. A dropped pass D. A throw away.
John Beck had no talent around him and he made the most of it, not by results, but by demeanor. You never saw him get upset even when he had no time to throw and was on his back half the game. He was in the huddle with the same poised look. Given during the game he got overwhelmed a few times which led to the fumbles, but that was because he had to worry about too much (like who was going to get a clean shot at him this time). Watch John Beck when he had time to throw you will notice that it is more good than bad, exactly what you want to see from a rookie.

You can't do that and have it be an open competition. Drew Brees knew from the moment that Phillip Rivers was drafted that he was no longer the guy in San Diego, no matter what he did. You will be paying the rookie too much money to have him ride the bench and hold the clipboard. It wasn't really an open competition, it was more of a hint to Drew that when you become a free agent, don't hold your breath for our call.

And what has Beck done to deserve the title Franchise QB?That title is earned,Not given.

Therefore (and here comes the logic now...ouch)...

Ryan would have to EARN his title of Franchise QB as well...

So - everyone saying they KNOW he's going to be great...really don't have a clue.

There's no reason why Beck CAN'T be our franchise QB.

I never said Ryan was going to be a Franchise QB for us or anyone for that matter,For all we know he could be the next Ryan Leaf.Carson Palmer,Peyton Manning Tom Brady, those are Franchise QBs not because they were drafted and people believed they would be,but because over the years they have EARNED the right of being called a FRANCHISE QB.JOHN BECK hasnt earned that right.Beck could start ever game for the next 5 years and without winning he wouldnt have earned the honor of being a called Franchise QB.He would just be another losing QB that started longer then he should have.
