look most of you won't agree with me but he is what we should do. We should take the best availble defensive player in the draft( whether cutlers there or not) sign a good veteran like steve Mcnair and sell the farm next year to move up and draft Brady Quinn. Saban and the staff love him and it will take cutler a year to devolope and I think Quinn will already be ready for the NFL under charlie weiss.

Thoughts. I will accept critiscm

i say we a get a young QB. not in the first round, but get someone THIS year.

I think this year is an unfortunately poor year for free agent QB's, I believe our best option is strenghten the offensive line and draft a quality young QB.

Sell the farm? Uh dude, this team is a playoff team NOW! Why not build around the team concept instead of trading everything for one player. I think Frerotte must go and get someone like Carr, McCown, or McNair

Carr yes, mcown... maybe and mcnair no chance. Steve mcnair was an nfl legend, but i mean come on, the guy is a walking ER case.....

dude I agree with you on that we should build around what we have but our biggest need is at QB and all our other weak spots and aging positions can be filled this year and next year in free agency

i dont think our team is a playoff team right now. if we sign TO, a good offensive lineman, improve the secondary, and get a proven qb, then we are a playoff team. and that qb that im talking about is daunte culpepper.

Culpepper would be an amazing upgrade on what we have, but do you see it happening? plus T.O..... those two signings, if they bought into (especially TO) the Saban philosophy, would surely see us in contention for the AFC East and hopefully the AFC champioship???

If getting TO and Culpepper are what we need in order to be a playoff team, then we're not going to be a playoff team.

Fortunately, I think your analyisis is off.

If that is the thought process, then why even bother with McNair or an over-rated Culpepper??? Save the $$$ or draft pick and suck it up with what we have. I do agree with you that Quinn will be very well prepared for the NFl and would be a great get. I think it's a matter of how close Saban thinks this team is to being a REAL contender. The defense is getting older in some key spots and that will also have to be addressed.

this is definatly our year for the p-offs.so why rebuild if we did this year.draft huff then get whitehurst

I think the real answer to the question is how committed would Saban be to getting Quinn. If he's truly committed than why even draft a QB this year??? Take the best talent you can and make some moves to position yourself to be in a better spot to get Quinn early, next year.

i think we are being a little too optimistic. yes we had an excellent year this year, considering the players we had. but i dont think u can honestly say that we have the pieces now to be a playoff team and a contender. we have some players that have very promising futures with us, but we have a lot of holes, not only at qb, but in the secondary as well.
