If we draft Long or Gholston, what happens to Porter and J.T as our OLBs?

JT may not be on the team at the start of the season. what with this whole "i'd rather be dancing then working out with the team' crap.

Long is big enough to be a 3-4 DE, so Porter and Taylor would be the OLBs. If JT gets traded, then Golston might be the better pick, as he would play OLB in a 3-4.

I think, given the HUGE contract #1 gets, that Chris Long is the safest pick. He grew up with money, seems very motivated, and wants to do as good -or better than his dad did in the NFL.

I'd prefer to trade down though.

I think JT's on the way out. He can't play DE in the 3-4 and Porter's contract is too high - it's also questionable if Porter could move inside in a 3-4 Defense, so I'd assume Porter and Long/Gholston on the outside, and Crowder and someone else inside. I still think Moses will eventually end up replacing Porter at WOLB.

JT doesn't have the mass behind him to play DE in the 3-4. JT would move to Linebacker occasionally and Joey would be on the other side. Lance Briggs in the middle, maybe a draft choice instead, take on Channing Crowder in the middle as well. Starting to shape up. But as far as I am looking at it this doesn't change our corps at LB very much. JT will probably be gone if Bill can't fit him in the system. And we need much better talent at Linebacking if we expect to switch to the 3-4. We don't have the talent but if they did do it I think it would Be as follows (JT/Moses-OLB, CC-MLB, Briggs/draft-MLB, JP-OLB)

Jason Taylor will not be a DE in the 3/4, he would be swallowed up and pushed around. If he stays with the team, JT will be the OLB on the weak side. There is talk that Porter might shift inside next to Crowder, which would leave OLB on the strong side for Long or Gholston. But I don't see Gholston being the #1 pick, it will more than likely be Long or Dorsey, with Long as the current favorite.

All the athletes that have done that show say they had to be workout warriors. Emmit Smith said he was in better shape when he was on Dancing with the stars then when he played football.

Jason will eventually be doing the "cha cha" on his way out of Miami. Whether it's this season, or the next. It'll eventually happen.

Why so much hate on JT for this dancing thing?
It's not like he is going to miss any OTA or training camp for it.

Joey Porter is a weakside 3-4 OLB, that's what he played in Pittsburgh, and struggled with a TE over him this year on the strongside.

Jason Taylor almost certainly is a weakside OLB as well.

If both are retained, Porter will probabaly end up moving to ILB, as it's not uncommon for former DE/OLBs to move to one of the ILB positions in this type of 3-4(Akin Ayodele, Mike Vrabel, Adalius Thomas)

The prevailing belief on Chris Long at this point is that he's a 3-4 strongside OLB, a position that plays over TE and is a bit bigger(270ish pounds) and power oriented.

Gholston is probabaly a weakside OLB as well.

Sorry bro but that is just pure horse crap. Theres no way.

And besides, JT's a 'leader'. His time should be spent in the weight room working out with the team, not dancing.

Quit talking **** about JT
I dont see why everyone says he will get traded
didnt he win DMVP when Saban was here running the 3-4

I agree. Joey Porter will be moved inside. I think he'll be more productive there. Last year, before he signed with the Dolphins, Marvin Lewis in Cinci was talking about signing Porter as an inside linebacker.

Bryan Cox was an OLB that got moved inside and succeeded.
