You know Wayne has yet to FIRE a head coach here.
Shula = retired Jimmy = retired Wanny = QUIT Bates = left Saban = ?
If Saban has another subpar season next year, he's on the hot seat right? If so, Does Wayne fire him? or does Wayne seem like a softy when it comes to our head coaches...Does he let them resign themselves? I know Wayne likes to just let his coaches coach, and he just sits back and watches, but at some point Wayne may have to step in for the interest of the team and the fans and do something, and up till now, he hasnt.

Wayne is all business..if the quit the dont get the remainder of the contract, if fired then they do..right??

well i think the word with Shula was that Wayne wanted him to fire his coordinators which Shula was not willing to do. I think its safe to say Shula was pushed out, and Wanny knew his days were numbered. I don't think Jim Bates got much consideration. He just wasn't offered the job.

I don't think Saban is deserving to be fired. I think we better see alot of progress next year though.

Wanny would still be here as our coach if he didn't step down. Heck, Jimmy Johnson would still be here if he didn't step down. I get the feeling that Wayne wouldn't fire anyone.

Shula was forced out. If Wayne was intent on bringing in Jimmy Johnson, letting Shula "retire" was the right way to go about it. Firing Shula without giving him that option would have been a slap in the face to the organization and the years of dedication Shula gave the Phins
The Wanny experiment was allowed to go on way too long, but after the '03 season Wanny was stripped of personnel control and the ultimatum was given to win now or else. Had Wanny not quit he almost certainly would have been fired. In fact, for all we know, he may have been. Maybe Wayne went to Dave and said "You're done here. How we present it is up to you. You can quit stating whatever reason you want, or I can hold a press conference and tell the media that I just fired you. The choice is yours"
Bates was never truly the head coach, he was the INTERIM head coach. Interim means just till we find someone else. You can't fire someone whos job by its very definition has expired.

Wayne is a successful businessman. You dont get that way without being able to make the hard decisions. If Saban stinks it up for a couple more years I think Wayne would have no problem firing him....or at least allowing him to "retire" to avoid the embarassment of being canned.

Very well put, but what I think this Organization lacks is some attitude, and the two main people who lack it, are 1.) Wayne and 2.) Saban. Now I'm not saying we should fire our head coach every 2 years, or Saban should just have a melt down after a game, but the same mudane press conferences that Saban has been giving are starting to wear down. For once I would like to see a little Parcells or Cowher in Saban, if your upset or mad its ok, let it show, shake this team up...hell we are 1-6, WHAT CAN IT HURT? Maybe just a little, Jerry Jones in Wayne...A LITTLE, voice his dissapointment something...I dont know. Maybe we all are a little angry, and cant understand or sense if our coach and owner are as well. We know the players arent happy. Even a little..."Playoffs? Playoffs? we couldnt do diddly poo and your talking Playoffs?" Getting sick of, " We just need to continue to improve, and start playing better, and staying the course, and positive things will happen." It's gettin a little tiring.

Half way thru the second season....and its ridiculous. Saban is a great coach...his first year with the team was a winning season!?!? Who out there is even a possible candidate anyways? Hill from Fresno State (also coached with Belichek w/Browns), Jim Fassel?.... I'm still excited to have Saban as our headcoach but why did he hire Mularkey?

BUT! SABAN IS A PROVEN WINNER AND HE DESREVES TIME...that was his statement in his hiring press conference. to much emphasis is put on now. he took over a failing team and needs time to assemble a winner. 2 years is not enough.

It is generally common practice for public figures to be given the opportunity to resign before being fired. In otherwords just because they resigned doesn't mean they weren't just being fired in a politically correct manner.

Why Wayne ? Why ????

I like this post. I think we (Fans) are quick to say " We have a great owner that leaves Football up to the people who know it" while mean-time the Dolphins have became the league doormat. I can tell you I have never seen anything that tells me he is passionate about winning or the team he owns. When is the last time you saw HIM on the sideline...Pacing & glaring at the scoreboard? I use to jump the coach & players when we were stinking it up...Now I realize they will only be as good as the owner demands they be. He should look for people who would quit in shame before they would let the Fins be in the state they are....I would. :shakeno:

PS. We are all around 40 it seems...Must be true what the press has been saying that the way things are going we will be the only fans left because we remember the golden years. Well , I raised my 16 yr old right...he is all Fins ( Even Now )

you don't make millions in the garbage business by lettin' people dump on you! Zinga's the power behind the throne and if he thinks season ticket sales are in jeopardy, sale of merchandise, anything where he can't make a buck, he'll blow it up just like he did the marlins. Zinga don't play and if Nicky continues to embarrass the organization with his bizarre antics, Zinga will move him, his 22 million, his 22 coaches faster than you can say "trash compactor". I'm looking for the "vote of confidence" soon and then you'll know Nicky's a short-timer.

Saban is a great coach? He is a proven winner? What dream world are you people living in? He was a very good college coach, nothing more, he has not proved anything in the pro's.
