Right now I am so pissed that Wannsteadt never gave Brian Griese a legitimate shot to heal and fight for the starting QB position from spring traing. :fire: But, besides that, right now, our QB Frerotte is doing nothing and has'nt pretty much all year. Im not trying to get the old Feeley vs Gus starting thing going, but Im telling you, I swear, whether it was Feeley or Sage, I play one of those guys.I know either one of them could be doing as well as Gus is right now to this point this year.Gus is a good guy, but we need to start finding a QB now, that can play, and look for one that has a future. Agree or not, Gus is'nt getting the job done right now.I would love to see a miraculous turnaround in the 2nd half, and even the rest of the year, but right now, I'm truly dissapointed.

Sage & AJ have no future. We arent going to have a great QB until next season at the earliest, we all have to accept that and hope that our running game and our D can get us a couple wins this season. Ball control.

You won't see Sage unless Gus starts losing games for us singlehandedly. Right now he's not doing that. Sure he's not winning games for us singlehandedly like Marino, but Sage isn't going to do that either, and Sage is going to make a LOT more mistakes than Frerotte.

Think about it this way -- how would you feel if Frerotte got hurt and COULDN'T play? I doubt you'd be breathing real easy.

Gus future is in the past though, he cant hit anyone right now and at least with AJ or Gus arm we have potential for a few big plays that may help open up the running game. They, the defense, show Gus no respect what-soever, and to be honest, I see why. AJ or Gus may not be the future, but everyone expected AJ to perform right away. Some QB's take awhile to develop. It took Hassleback at Seattle a few years.

And Im not saying AJ is the answer, but just as I griped last year that Wannsteadt didnt give Griese a fair shot, I still say the same with Feeley. He played half a year last year with a terrible offensive line, and a weak offense around him when Ricky left. This year it is somewhat better.Gus has still not performed.

I like Gus as a back-up, and I would breathe fine without him honestly.

AJ would be throwing pick 6's right now. Gus will manage the game and allow us to win as long as our other playmakers step up.

frerotte isn't as bad as people make him out to be. it's based on the high expectations we had for him after his first game. in reality he's not nearly as poor as feeley/fiedler last year. do we need a new QB? yeah, but it's not as drastic as a situation as it was last year

Tell me AJ was giving a legit shot with the offense we had last year and the offensive line ? While your at it, tell me Brian Griese was giving a legit shot by Wannsteadt when he was here ? Brian was hurt and never,NEVER got to show how good he was after the injury. Its ridiculous that these guys were'nt given a legit shot, just as it is that Feeley was'nt either. If Feeley would have had the shot this year and not progressed to the point he should have by the end of the year, I would be the first to say, jerk his *ss out.But to say he wads giving a legit shot last year with an offense we had and an offensive line that sucked at best and gave him absolutely no time to throw is a joke.

I’m not Frerotte’s biggest fan but for every bad pass he has thrown, you can probably also find a pass that was dropped by a receiver. Plus add in all the penalties and it’s asking a lot of any QB to consistently overcome 1 and 15 or 3 rd and 10.

I think one of the biggest problems with our offense is that we need to find some balance. Frerotte is not a good enough QB to win games solely with his arm. Ricky had maybe 3 or 4 carries at the half, Brown had 1 or 2. That just isn’t enough carries.

But I will admit that I will be very disappointed if we don’t bring in some legitimate QB competition next season.

I agree that Brian got a raw deal, but AJ got his shot in preseason, and don't tell me it was because he didn't know the offense as well as Gus, because he couldn't even beat out Sage for the #2 spot. And it's not like the O-line has improved so much, they are definitely better than last year, but to call them anything more than average is a stretch.

And 1 more thing, I dont want a QB who just will "manage the game", I want a QB who will and can make some throws and plays, and put's pressure on the defense a little bit. If our passing game does'nt start, no way will Ricky or Ronnie be doing much, because Tampa and other teams will continue to stack the box against the run, while showing no respect at all for our passing.

Come on dude, 3 pre-season games is a legit shot ? You can do better than that....

Frerotte is on pace to throw 24 interceptions, that's not exactly something to crow about.

5 preseason games. Not to mention he was named the starter before preseason, it was his job to lose and he did just that. And what would you rather do, have another musical chairs season at QB?

Gus IS NOT an NFL starter. Nice backup, but a starter he's not. He's got a big arm but wastes it by overthrowing receivers when they're open. I'm all for Sage. He can't be any worse.
