Friken Fiasco...thats what we have in Friken Feeley and Fiasco Frerotte!!!
I can believe our qb situation has gotten to the point where the fans, the media, and even the coach is considering starting our 3rd stringer. It's amazing to me that a team that has one of the best coaching staff (at least one of the highest paid ones) has taken this long to realize that we have basically 3 back up qb's on our staff. Saban has had now 5 games plus the practices to see what Frerotte and Feeley can do. I know that they didn't game plan for tonight's game, and I also know that it's pre-season, and our line play has been horrific at times and bad on other ocasions. But enough is enough!!!
I undestand that Saban doesn't want to give up draft picks to get somebody here via trade, but he realises that we need help, so this is what I propose:
1) Give Sage an opportunity to show what he can do with the first team. He already knows Linehan's system so let him practice during the week with the 1st team and see what he does againts the Broncos. The kid has earn it!!
2) Go after Couch, I know he has failed before but several qb's flourish later on in their careers. Start Frerotte or Sage while Couch learns the system. If healthy, I cant see him doing more damage than F and F.
3)Trade for somebody! We have an abundance of rb's and some depth at wr. So why not try to get a package deal with some one looking for help at the rb/wr positions. And include a mid round draft pick if need it.
