Wassup guys long time reader 1st time posting. I have a quik question 2 ask. Why o why are we still starting andre goodman opposite will allen?
After seeing the guy give up a big play in all our games so far; I just dont understand why we wouldnt give jason Allen a shot at his spot.
Im pretty sure he would hold up better than Andre!

Well Jason Allen is back at Corner now so maybe that's what they're considering. But he's hardly proven himself worthy to start either. Although i'd be more comfortable with Allen considering he might have an upside once he plays at a position with stability rather than being switched around from safety to corner every other day. This opposed to Goodman who has always played corner and has always sucked.

My guess is Sparano is trying to get the team to gel and create some chemistry. That is very hard when you are moving people around and nobody knows where they will be week to week. The way it is, the player can only worry about his side of the field and the TunaCo can observe and see where we need improvement. Let's not lose sight that while we are having a good season thus far, this is still a "wait an see" phase of the rebuild.

BTW, welcome to FINHeaven Dolphinlogik. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as I have.

One thing about Jason Allen is . . . the man is all over when he is in the game . . . clearly visible on the field because of his athletic play, and I like that. Last year he stepped in and he played well . . . but lost his job this year . . . weird, especially to Crocker, I dunno, I have always said he must practice like **** because he plays well on game day. Even tho I am a Jason Allen supporter, I have always liked the Bell/Hill combo at safety, and we don't need to touch that. Now if Jason is working primarly at CB, he definitely can make a charge at that #2 CB spot sometime in the season. However, nothing I have seen (tho I don't know how he is practicing) makes me feel that we should go to him right away at CB, I rather see Lehan go in first, but thats only because I don't know how Jason is doing . . . if Jason is balling out in practice, throw him in there.

I've always like Goodman. True he doesn't have the ball skills of a starting NFL corner but he plays solid vs the run and is always in position. Most of the big plays are plays where he miss times his jump or the WR just makes a better play. Now granted that is no excuse, but Jason Allen lacks the confidence to play the position. I keep pulling for him and hope he can turn it around but I fill he never will and we will cut ties with him this off season. We will bring in another corner and Goody will be the nickle. That being said Lehan has been close to the ball lately and maybe he can come back to being the player we once thought he could be.
As for Jason Allen, every time he is on the field I am holding my breath just knowing the other team is licking their chopps waiting to make him prove himself. And he never does.
But hey throw him out there and give him one last chance before ya cut him lose. I think maybe that is what they are doing to some degree. We have to know what we have, and that is the only way to do it.

I think they planned to make this move for a while. Right now they are probably trying to let him get settled before starting him. Luckily for him, he should have the same coach for two seasons in a row so maybe he will finally be able to stay put for once.

The thing about Allen is he is a ball hawk and shows he can make plays. And the coaching staff even acknowledged it.

Reason he's not on the field?

Coaches say he's not at the level mentally where he's suppose to be. (He doesn't know the playbook well enough.) So I doubt they won't sign him next year with a year in the defense under his belt!

Well he had a 6 year deal and this is only year 3, and we paid him guaranteed money already . . . if the coaches likes him, I think we will go ahead and keep him and hopefully he becomes similar to what Cromartie is for the Chargers.

we are starting Goodman because he is our best option. We basically have one good CB and a bunch of scrap metal at CB. Jason has proven to be nothing special at any position in the NFL.

Exactly! I totally agree.
