I have been just as purplexed about the way this 2006 season has gone as any of you have. I find myself going over past game films, highlight videos, and anything I can find to drive and give me an understanding. I appreciate as many points of perspective as I can get so feel free to chime in on this and let me know what you think.

Any way, as I was watching two game films from last year, it's absolutely clear that our offense is entirely differnt. I never thought a coordinator could make that much of a differnce, but the truth is, we miss Linehan terribly. Our offense had a certain swagger last year. All of our play makers were put in position to make plays and we seemed to have a plan. Running plays had a purpose and our pass plays seemed to benefit from those runs. Our backs were able to keep a good average and we busted some big runs at times. I think this is all because of timely running and the fact of sticking to the run. It also set up tons of big shots down the field. Our QB's would just throw it up and Chambers or Booker would run under it. As I was watching our 2005 highlight video that Nublar made, I saw numerous big plays. I don't think we've had any plays of 40+ yards this year. Play calling is absolutely killing us and our offense's execution is suffering big time because of it.

The other thing I noticed, was a lack of desire, passion, heart and will. Watch the New Orleans game from last year. Our defense was flying all over the field and whenever a player made a big play, i.e. sack, INT or saftey, all the players were jumping around congratulating each other. I just don't see that this season. No one wants to be the guy to make plays and if it isn't him he doesn't seem to care. As bad as Reggie Howard was, he was one of these guys who really seemed to amp the team up. What happend to that fire? A lot of these guys are still here and I just don't see it. Also, losing Lance Shulters may have been our second biggest loss IMO.

Any way, that's my 2 cents. This teams biggest problems are play calling and desire. Go ahead and tell me what you think. And if you get a chance, watch some films from last year and see if you notice any of this.

P.S I know most of you are already aware of this but I just thought I would give my perspective. Please, I urge you to watch some games from last year and try and understand my point. Thanks guys.

EDIT: We did have a long pass play to Booker against Pittsburgh that went over 40 yards.

See the mini-golf thread with regards to comaradery

I watch the home games in person, and I'm glued to my TV every Sunday as well. I've seen every team in the NFL play this year in one form or another{NFL Ticket}, and unfortunately I have to say that Miami shows the least amount of desire when it comes to giving it 100%, and playng games out....

We could never overcome a 10 point deficeit with this group. Even when the offense has been able to somewhat battle back, the defense closes shop and gives up that huge back-breaking play. And it usually happens in the most unfortunistic fashion for us, when we can least afford a screw up....

If Saban doesn't tear it all down this off-season, and begin "The Re-Build", he's going to continue his current downward spiral....

Drastic situations call for drastic measures in my opinion. I can handle a three year losing streak from this day forward as long as I'm seeing steady progress on a yearly basis. What I can't take is this "next year we'll be back" / "we're close" attitude this franchise has been carrying for quite some time now. I'm not sure about the rest of you but I'm tired of hearing it, I want to see results on the field.....

PHINZ RULE!!!

I too am becomming fed up with just seeing pre-season excpectations, only to have them not be fulfilled. It really is becomming annoying and I can't wait till Saban can get this thing turned around.

No leadership,No sacrificing for each other,No chemistry,No unity on team,no intimidating presence in the form of a football player on this team.
Bottom line this team does not know each other so in turn does not have the intangibles to be a team

I think L Schulters was a huge loss too bros.

On the O play calling--Linehan was obviousy better than most of us reckoned (good luck to him). I dont think that you can say that Moolarkey isn't passionate. He is just a bad playcaller in your eyes. I just cant believe that he is as bad as he seems. I would never have hired him, but Nick seen something in him I/we didn't, and I am willing to go with that for a year, until it is proven wrong.

The problem is that we have no VOCAL leaders.

We have too many quiet guys.

We lost Junior Seau which was a HUGE vocal leader.

Howard and Schulters talked it up as did Madison. Madison might've talked more to the opponents though but he still TALKED a lot.

We have too many woe is me guys now that wayyy out number the talkers.

The few talkers we do have can't seem to or at least dont have the pull to get the other guys pumped up.

In the end all you get is a flat team week in and week out.

Saban needs to help out though. He needs to go crazy or something to get these guys fired up or think of something like Pat Riley does to motivate his guys because he isnt doing it now.

Am I the only one sick of seeing him do that stupid little clap no matter what happens? We could make a game blowing play, and he's over their clapping and encouraging. What is that? Seriously!

Two biggest problems:

Offensive coordinator and QB.

Other problems: OL that wasn't addressed, poor draft picks, tearing apart a secondary and replacing it with scrubs, etc etc etc.

I couldn't disagree more. And I absolutely can't wait for Daunte to get healthy and come back in '07.

Well, until he actually comes back healthy and shows the problems he was having this year were an abberation, the QB situation is still a concern.

Any position that has serious questions surrounding it IS a problem.

O-Line, WR (Chambers isnt a solid #1, Booker keeps getting hurt), QB, D-Line (they are doing alright this year, but they ARE getting old and will be a problem in a year or two), TE, and the biggest is the OC.

Just my opinion.
