Ok, now I have been playing/coaching football for 19 years now, and this is what i saw on Sunday.
O-line- contrary to popular belief, the O-line didnt play bad. I mean when the opposing team is stacking 8-9 players in the box, what do you expect 7 guys to do besides there best, hince the bad running game. Now the pass blocking has been pretty good from the most part, but could use improvement of course.
QB- Pennington has not done a bad job, though at times he has been holding on to the ball too long, but not really his fault due to the putrid wr play.
RB'S- What do you expect with 8-9 in the box?
DL- this is probably the bright spot on this team. we have been getting good penetration, run stuffing was better this week. This unit is getting better each week. Very big, very physical front, this unit will give the best lines trouble all season and I look forward to it.
LB- This unit of LB's is still suspect. I expected a little bit more from them, they need to learn to stuff the gaps, and not overpersue which I saw some of on Sunday. But, having said that there still not a bad bunch, they just need to jell.
CB/S- This week they were downright bad. They are not a physical bunch, and simply got manhandled by the Cards wide recievers. Boldin and Fitz were daring Allen and Goodman to get near them, and laughing at our secondary as they tried to cover them. This unit regressed tremendously this week after a decent showing in week onw. We have to address this problem fast.

Most needed areas of help- without a doubt WR, and the secondary if we address these two units we will compete even if we didnt touch anything else, but until this happens, I'm expecting something of the same results against the Pats. Thanks guys. GO DOLPHINS

Our DBs looked tiny next to Fitzgerald. i expect Cassel and Moss to play pitch and catch with us too. Some guys are small who play big, but our DBs are small guys who play small.. and looked scared.

As far as the offense. Im starting to think that moving guys in and out with 'packages' isn't a good thing. I can undersyand what they are trying to do. But I think you just simply need to put your best players out there. Bigg should perhaps go the way of Hester vand just be left to return duty. Wilford is being misused. If out TEs are making plays then go to the well early and often.

I think we need to come out passing against the pats. I would argue you to go deep on the very first play. We need to exploit their old LBs by maximizing our slot receiver and mismatches.

Perhaps spreading the offense a little will get the running game going.. Now i regress to rambling.. arrgh...

the DBs are the exact opposite of a parcells team, they are all little chicken ****s and not physical at all.

i pretty much agree with everything, specially about the OLine, but Penny played bad yesterday IMO. he made some dumb, unaccurate throws. i think he will be OK, but hes holding on the ball to long, with our WRs and their inability to get much separation he needs to predict, not see.

I agree with this, especially the part about ore TE play, Fasano had 8 catches in week one, and zero on Sunday. whats up with that?

Its pretty obvious that the other team by Week two knows our pass patterns already. We are limited in the throws that Penny can make and he is holding on to the ball too long.

and why arent we running more crossing patterns to at least make secondarys think?

Our Wideouts are not physical enough. They cants get off the line of scrimmage because they are getting bump and pushed off route messing up timing. all our wideouts are thin and not physical enough. by next week NE is going to force us to throw to the WR because David Martin and Fasano arent going to be options. sure throw it to the RBs but how many yards to you expect to get? and you'd think a 6-4 Wilford would be physical but he just plain sucks donkey nuts.

We can't have posts like these that come from people who seem to know what they are talking about and are not screaming for the whole team to be cut. You are ordered to stop this rational and objective evaluating of the team and immediatly start to demand trades for Peyton Manning, Randy Moss, and LaDanian Tomlinson as well as hiring the resurrected ghost of Vince Lombardi to coach. You don't seem to realize that the Trifecta have had ample time to fix a broken franchise, hell, there are at least fifty guys who post here who could have already done it. Frankly, I am apalled at your naivete'. :d-day:

My biggest gripe is on the first play...how do you have 4 secondary players playing against 5 receivers...did not one coach see that? Not one player said...we don't have the right coverage...time out!!

How can anyone let a linebacker cover a receiver....:shakeno:

I agree with your assessment except for this part. I watched the game again, and I think Pennington missed throws and there were a couple of balls that I couldn't tell if he was trying to make a play or throw it away.

LOL, thanks for your post man, but if I rally for the trade of all franchise players to Miami I would be like 90% of the posters on this site. I consider myself above average when it comes to football knowledge, and I know that this isnt going to happen over night, but we out right regressed from last week by far! Although the Jets dont have near the dominance at WR as the Cards do. I am now beginning to see the season unfold before me as we play these teams that are stronger in different phases in the game, we will be very much exposed this weekend on our offensive line as the Patriots, I think, will make a mockery of our O-line.

You are exactly right, I forgot to mention that. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. :hi5:

I think the OL will gel in a few games. Same thing happend last year started off slowly and Ronnie tore it up until his injury.

How can we solve the 8 men in the box though? Screen passes?

We knew our secondary was crappy last year. Same with the WRs other than Ginn we had no talent. I don't blame the FO though there is only so many things you can address in 1 offseason. It all starts with the lines.

As a coach this is what I would do for my QB. I know my WR's arre small but fast, so..... I whould run a lot of screen passes and would run so many crossing routes the secondary's eyes would start spinning. The key is, if your smaller and less physical, you must be smarter. Crossing routes would get our WR's open, in my opnion because we have a lot of speed at WR.
