Asked if he’s confident the offense will be more aggressive, creative and exciting, owner Stephen Ross said, “Absolutely. Certainly speed has been addressed that will help open up an offense. And we brought in a new coordinator that’s committed to that.”
Ross praised Sparano and general manager Jeff Ireland, but also made it clear he expects results this season.
“I believe in them,” Ross said. “They have all the resources they need. I’m not meddling with them. … I think we’ve had two losing seasons, and I think Tony feels — and certainly, I can’t pick up the paper without reading all this stuff that’s been written about how much pressure he has now … Certainly, there’s pressure on him as everybody’s put on him — you know, he’s got to win. But I believe in him in the long term, and I think he’s great. The players like him. He’s a great motivator.”
Ross said Ireland is “a very, very talented young guy. I’ve watched him operate. He doesn’t panic. I’ve been in meetings with him, and he is as hard-working, dedicated as anybody I’ve seen in any business there is.”
