Can we please stop all this dreaming about next years free agents.

There isn't going to be a cap!!!!

None of the players that haven't been in the league 6 years will UFA's, they will all become RFA's.

Teams will be able to use their franchise tags and two transition tags to keep their players.

Actual UFA's will be few and far between and any good ones will be exceedingly expensive.

All of this talk about signing Brandon Marshall and Miles Austin is a pipe dream. They are going to be RFA's with max tenders on them, or they will be franchised.

On the other hand, their could be a lot of trading going on. If I knew how to do a poll I would put one out on the trade value of the Dolphins most likely players to be traded.

The real question to be dealing with is how will the Dolphins improve in an uncapped year?????????? Any thoughts on that.

I tend to agree with you, teams will be able to keep good players that they want to with the uncapped rules next year. I do think there will be a lot of teams dumping players with bad contracts to take advantage and to clear their books. So, there will be players out there on the market, just not the ones everyone is drooling over right now ( Miles Austin, Brandon Marshall, etc. ).

We might see more trades this offseason then we've seen in awhile, it should be interesting.

I agree about the Brandon Marshall and Miles Austin stuff. We ARE NOT going to be signing these guys, their respective teams are not going to let them go, particularly because they can spend as much as they want or need to keep them with no ramifications.

So if we have an uncapped year next year....

Ginn= Gone
Wilson= Gone
Jason Allen= Gone.

So I guess thats not all bad for us..

Also we have a ton of draft picks so I think we will be able to make moves on vets if we want to...

If that's the case then the trifecta need to be bold and go after a big time player, quit being scared of using draft picks as trade bait. I personally wouldnt be upset if they used a 2nd or 3rd or depending on the player a first to find us a playmaker.

I understand the owners' desires for an uncapped year. I can't get beyond 2018 in my Madden franchise because I literally ran right out of cap room.

A Ton?

Please explain - did they get extra picks through trades?

Well i guess not a ton..But back in the day we never had any cause we traded them away for idiots....

But we do have that extra 6th for taylor and whatever we got for the 2 linemen we traded to the chiefs but then i think we gave up a 5th for Thigpen...so not sure how many we acutally have.Plus we have an extra 7th for this year that we got last year from the chiefs..last years 7th for this years..so not bad

1,2,3,4,6,6,7,7( Plus whatever we got for the linemen we traded to the chiefts)

a ton????????????

They have an extra 6th and 7th round pick, and an undisclosed pick (probably a 6th) for the trade with KC for Andy Alleman and Ikechuku Ndukwe.

I wouldnt count that as "a ton"...

Why is it unthinkable to hope that VJ, Marshall, Austin....any of these guys might not want to sign a contract with their current team in hopes of being payed more money on an RFA deal from another team in an uncapped year?

As I said in the post before yours......

Compared to the Wanny and Saban years we have a ton..

I will take our picks plus extras in any round any day of the year

I really dont want any of those high priced free agent guys..Too much Risk involved..

Lets just keep pluggin along through the draft..Hartline is showing alot of promise..Bess has been very good(not so good since the ankle tho)
Plus who knows what we have in Turner..If we did not like him I am sure he would have been cut awhile ago...

If that happens, the: Cowboys, Raiders, Redskins, etc. will just buy everything and the league will be like baseball.

That's what I initially thought as well....but if that was the case, why would the owners have UNANIMOUSLY voted to scrap the CBA deal?

This is about money, no doubt. IMO this is like a 1 time catchup....that the Raiders, Redskins, and Cowboys could desperately use. 1 year they get to cut all of their past mistakes and over priced vets with no salary cap hit.

This is more about proving a point to the players union. The union has been pushing for the players to see more and more money from different things. If the owners can show the players that high priced vets can be cut and the league is still going to function with or without them....it may change their views a little bit.

The FA market is going to be flooded with vets who had a contract better than their play. All players with less than 6 yrs in the league will be RFAs....so their isn;t going to be too much out there to be bought up.....but if 1 team REALLY wanted to start throwing money around....the Seahawks owner has far more money to play with than the rest.

Hopefully it will only be for one year..Thats why baseball sucks..IMO

But I did love talking smack to Yankee fans when my Marlins beat them in 6 with a 50 million dollar payroll..It can happen..

But anyhow..This could help us..We get Ronnie for another year...Which I love to have him back without having to give him a long term deal...not sure if he can stay healthy..

No gap hit on Wilson..No cap hit on Ginn or Allen if he is not a free agent..

We could cut Will Allen too since he is on the wrong side of 30 and we just gave him a decent deal..

Our FO does not go after the big FISH lol...We make under the Radar Fa moves..

Smiley..Starks..Wilson...Wilford...Grove..Charlie Anderson..Wake not really top teir guys...They are building through the draft..I would not be surprised if we go after another guard tho
