Ozzie Newsome knows the Dolphins need an offensive tackle. He is aware the Dolphins are talking to Jake Long. But that doesn't make him believe the Dolphins are going to actually draft Jake Long.

No way, he says.

“I think one of the best parts of the draft is the intrigue that goes with it with what other teams are going to do," Newsome said. "Right now, probably half of you think Jake Long is going to be the No. 1 pick. I’d probably smile and say that’s not going to happen. And, [Miami is] negotiating with the kid right now, for whatever reason."

I wonder why Newsome would come out and say that all of a sudden. Interesting he thinks its a smoke screen none the less.
 
no disrespect to one of the better drafters in the NFL< but how does he know what is going on in Miami?

Let me reiterate this, If we can get a top notch OT at 32, I'm fine passing up Jake Long, but I don't think we can afford to make that gamble.
 
I really think the pick is going to be vernon Gholston.. just a gut feeling
 
Nobody knows. that is what makes BP and co. so beautiful. Even when Ireland slips up, it still doesnt matter cus they dont know which player we actually take.

It will make for some real nice drama to start the draft.

A piller of your defense wouldn't be Gholston taken plays off ect. He had 1/2 a sack more then C long but chris long has twice as many tackles and never quits or gives up.

Dorsey but he had injury issues so i doubt it.
 
There should not be any drama when you have the #1 pick and no one else wants the #1 pick for the same reasons we don't. If there are 3 guys we like the same, then we should draft the one that offers the least downside, is on the field for the most snaps, plays a position that is worthy of high dollars, and fills the biggest need on the team - oh wait - that would be Jake Long.

me too or i think we alreayd have a trade partner and we are going to trade out.

But if we are there Im pretty sure its Gholts but i have a feeling Dorsey is the major surprise pick and will play LE for us.
 
it would explain our lowballing Jake Long

perhaps we are just trying to scare the Rams while accepting Jake at a huge discount(not anticipating that he will accept)

the media thinks that Chris Long is our guy

i think we are going with one of the longs......both i think will have great careers...the pick will e decided i think on what better value will we find with 2a (meaning a better OT or DE)
