One less HC opening that desirable prospects can compete for.

Improves our odds for landing a viable HC. With all the available prospects, we damn well better not end up with the likes of a Mangini or Haley!!!

I'm genuinely surprised to hear this.

Miami becomes the 2nd best opening after NYG and even that's debatable. Still remains to be seen if New Orleans gets in the market by shipping off Sean Payton.

The chance to work with Luck was a major incentive for any head coach candidate. Now that it's off the table, aside from Marriotta, and with Manning on the downside of career years, Tannehill shows the most promise to a new coach candidate.

They're also not stuck with him if they decide to go a different route in their second year. It's a pretty good situation. As for the rest of the team...

NYG - most attractive opening, hands down

After that, they are all varying degrees of bad. Ownership situations in Tennesee and Cleveland are huge.

Irsay must have popped some more pills before making this move today.

Terrible, terrible coach. Oh and to make matters worse they kept the gm who is not on speaking terms with him.

Yeah, with the anticipated opportunities to coach Luck and Rivers not coming to fruition, even with our clueless owner, figurehead GM and sadsack of a VP, relatively speaking, we don't look that bad by comparison to a few others . And I'm still not convinced that Kelly doesn't end up in TN.

I think we have some talent that can be attractive to coaches, especially since a large part of our problems were from bad/inept coaching.

an offense built around Parker and Landry is appealing. especially if they can fix the oline issues/run game which would benefit Tannehill.

Maybe everyone got un a room and actually talked things out? Maybe the owner believes that there still is talent with those two guys? Thought provoking, I know

I'm glad - as others have pointed out, takes the fantasy of working w Luck off the table AND I don't think Chuck is a good coach - he's ok. I didn't want him here in Miami. Good news for us on both counts.

My guess is Irasy told Pagamo and Girigson to play nice and get it done of he is canning both of them...

Grigson is Jeff Ireland level bad. Any idiot can draft Andrew Luck. A good percentage of this board would love to GM that franchise and would do a hell of a job with Luck under center. I tell what you don't do - draft a skinny little receiver in the first round named Phil Dorsett. What the hell was that when you need line help and defense?

You've got Luck, now build a defense and a line. Jeez. It's not tough. Seriously.

And the year he drafted Fleener and Dwayne Allen together. Allen is as good as gone this offseason. He's busted there. May be a good pickup on a buy cheap. Didn't work out there like many of Grigson's moves (Trent Richardson, the German kid from FSU, Dorsett, etc).

One of Grigson's biggest issues is he doesn't work in concert with Pagano. He doesn't bring Pagano the type of groceries Pagano wants for his systems. That's dysfunction. Serve your coach. The good news for the rest of the league is you're wasting young Andrew Luck. The bad news - if they ever get it together - watch out. The other thing - that division isn't going to be a cakewalk forever. Bortles quietly threw 35 TD passes. Allen Robinson is a monster. I pounded the table for him going back to Penn State. Yeldon has potential. In Houston if they ever figure out quarterback, who knows and they were gifted the playoffs this year even though they suck. Sure Tennessee is the worst team in the league but they have a starting point in Mariota and the first overall pick. So the Colts could finally get checked a bit.
