For those asking info on how Roth looks in Training Camp, there was this tidbit:
PalmBeachPost.com said:At Wednesday morning's workout, it might surprise you who I tended to find myself eyeing closely as a result of his speed and physical presence: Second-year defensive end Matt Roth.
Roth, who was playing with the first team because defensive end Jason Taylor watched practice from the sideline a day after he stopped early because of cramps, looked exceptional for nearly all of practice.
Blazing around the end on multiple plays, he probably would have had two sacks – one on Joey Harrington and another on Daunte Culpepper – if quarterbacks could be hit during practice.
Apparently, I wasn’t the only one who noticed. Defensive end Kevin Carter raved about Roth’s improvement and work ethic – and that’s coming from a been-around-the-block veteran who isn’t easy to win over. Coach Nick Saban also sounded pleased with his ability.
Roth said afterward he gained nearly 15 pounds in the off-season. It’s evident nearly all of the added weight appears to be muscle in his chest, arms and back. It will be interesting to see how he continues to progress, but keep an eye on Roth.
