Many observers? Like who? I don't think that the team is going to have a worse record this year than last year. John Clayton predicts that the Dolphins should improve based on their strength of schedule. Other "experts" also think that the Dolphins should be somewhere around .500, if not better. I just can't grasp another double-digit loss season based on the projected 53-man roster.

I'm with you bro.....this team can't be worse. Especially on offense.

Here is what Cam Cameron can do for an offense:

While with the Chargers...
1. Total Offense improved over the five years without a downturn.
2. Rush Offense was in the Top 10 all five years.
3. Passing Offense improved in each of four consecutive years before taking a slide last season.
4. Points scored increased drastically in a short time frame, which coincided with the number of touchdowns scored.
5. Achieved at least 300 first downs in the seasons with at least a .500 record.
6. Converted at least 37% of their third down situations in those same seasons.
7. Team had a regular season record above .500 when the average time of possession is at least 31 minutes.

Even better, here is a post about Trent Green and his W/L record/stats vs. our 2007 schedule: http://www.finheaven.com/boardvb2/showthread.php?t=202881

It's worth the read...

Secondary issues aside, there's no reason not to expect the defense to play as well as last year. (respectable) We got Porter. Travis Daniels is healthy. (the jury's still out on Allen) DLine has young talent potential. Playmaking in the secondary still a big concern. Offensively, the optimism really begins and ends with Cameron. Will he be the offensive guru that will rescuscitate last year's corpse? Linehan got juice out of this bunch 2 years ago when he came down from the skybox. Cam's calling his own plays. Talent-wise nobody jumps out at you on offense. Ronnie has shown flashes, but he's been nicked up at times. If he can stay healthy, he should be a pounder. The receivers: nothing special. Chambers and Booker have done well at times, but they don't scare anybody. Tight ends: ????? Offensive line: musical chairs - real major concern. Ted Ginn: yeah he looked good in his high school YouTube highlights but this is the big leagues ???? Quarterback - Old Man Green fresh off his worse season ever. An upgrade over CPEP and Joey? In his prime, no question. At 37 ????? But the season starts now and all our rookies and free agents are much better than any other teams so there's reason for blind optimism. Go Fins!

Simply put, this team is better right now than it was on the eve of training camp the last two years (particularly last year). I can't fathom how having an offensive-minded head coach is going to hurt this team with the talent we've collected. We should be able to sustain longer drives and score more points per game, which will give the defense more time on the sidelines. The defense should be in the top five in the league at season's end.

This is just more blah blah blah blah. These writers are just rewriting stories that have already been writen ad nausem this year. They are also missing the point that some of these changes had to be done especially when your offense scores less than 2 touchdowns per game.

Aging defense. Yep they sure are aging. I know a lot of teams wish their defense played as well our dinosaurs. Taylor was Defensive Player of the Year. Thomas led the league in tackles. Holliday came within one sack of setting a career high. Traylor is still a clog in the middle and Porter led the Steelers in sacks despite missing two games with a hamstring pull that bothered him most of the season.

The defense did give up 22 touchdown passes which is bad enough but they only had 8 interceptions and 3 of those came from the front 7. The Madison-Surtain led pass defense did give up 22 td passes in 2001 and 20 td passes in 2002 but they also had 17 and 21 interceptions in those respective years. If this year's secondary can get atleast one interception per game, they will get the respect their overall play deserve.

I think the first thing Coach is going to try and build is consistancy on offense. The offensive line must gel together and form a unit, not just 5 guys on the line. The RB's must also learn how the oline reacts to a defense and then adjust.
And the QB's must get their timing down with the receivers.
While this should form during camp, it'll take some time.
Remember, t hey all have to learn Green's cadence.
But you are all right, not much room to get worse.

Remember the last time Chris Chambers had an OC with a brain? We know one thing about Ginn, he is f'n fast. I don't know if he can play at this level but I'll tell you this. Some of those DB's he smoked at OSU were 1st round draft picks. Ginn is one of the only players that benches less than I do so I have to question if he can beat jams from some of these physical corners at this level. If he can this changes everything for the Dolphins. It takes pressure off Ronnie Brown if Defenses have to worry about Chambers and Ginn having a track meet in the secondary. It would take attention off of Chambers too. Lorenzo Booker is a wildcard in this. He might be another weapon. Might not have enough footballs to go around.

If not no fear Zach, JT and the defense will win some games:lol: if they could only get a little help from the secondary every now and then.
