Rafael Palmeiro said a vitamin he received from Miguel Tejada might have caused the positive test for steroid use that led to the first baseman's suspension, an assertion his Baltimore Orioles teammate dismissed as implausible.

Palmeiro said he received vitamin B-12 from Tejada, a person familiar with Palmeiro's unsuccessful grievance hearing to overturn the suspension said Thursday on condition of anonymity because the proceedings were secret.

"Right now I'm in shock," Tejada, a former American League MVP, said after Baltimore lost to the New York Yankees on Thursday night. "I've never given anybody steroids before. I've been checked out three times already, and I'm clean. I've been clean all my life."

The Orioles manager (I forget the name off the top of my head) two days ago said it might be better if Palmeiro didn't rejoin the team for the rest of the year because at the time the person in question that "gave" Palmeiro steriods of the vitamin or whatever was an unnamed teammate. At the time 2 names popped into my head Sosa and Tejeda. Does anyone believe Palmeiro though?

how dumb is Palmerio? although i prolly believe tajeda took steriods at some point, B-12 is legal, how the hell would that make you test positive Raffy?

what a *******, ive lost every ounce of respect for this jackass

Raffy is such a punk. He'll do anything to pass the buck and shift blame now.

What makes you throw a teammate under the bus like that? It's not going to win you any respect or popularity. Fan's aren't going to be like, "Oh! Tejada gave it to him! It's all his fault! We're sorry Raffy!". This guy is just tripping over himself to try and save his chances for the HoF.

This just in from rotoworld.com:

"The Orioles said MLB has absolved Miguel Tejada of any wrongdoing in the Rafael Palmeiro case.
''They tested the stuff Miggy had and found out it was B12 and cleared it and that's the end of the story,'' Orioles executive vice president Jim Beattie said.""

So Raffy threw Tejeda under the bus for no reason..... whata great guy.

Are you saying that there is no chance Tejada ever juiced at any point in his career? What makes you so sure? This sounds an awful lot like people ripping on Canseco, only to find out that some of his accusations were true.

Oh, and it's just another reason to hate the Orioles.

Let's face it, who's gonna believe Palmeiro? Canseco said he was juicing over 10 years ago when they were both with Texas. I'm sure Palmeiro knew what juice was before he ever met Tejada or before Tejada ever put on a Major League uniform. Shame on Palmeiro for trying to dirty someone else's name whether their guilty or not!

I wouldn't say Tejada hasn't juiced. I wouldn't say anyone in baseball hasn't juiced. I would say that if you have a "teammate" in anything, you don't rat them out and throw them under the bus. It looks bad for you more than it looks bad for them and you should have some respect for them. If he offered it to you, and you took it, thats your own fault. If I had gone before Congress finger pointing, I would make damn sure I knew what the hell I was taking from then on.

I totally agree, I'm not defending Palmeiro here. I'm just saying that no one should get a free pass, especially not Tejada after his name has been "Red Flagged."

I was against Canseco for making his accusations as well, but the fact is that he was right, and I think the same could be said for Palmeiro. Palmeiro is a known juicer and comes out of this situation looking very bad, but I believe him when it comes to Tejada.

Not at all. I think you know that I think Tejeda juiced at one point in his life. As of right now it just seems like Raffy is throwing Tejeda under the bus for no reason. However I wouldn't be shocked if he threw Tejeda's name out due to the fact that Tejeda hasn't tested positive for steriods like Raffy did.

And for the record I believed every word Jose Canseco said about steriods.

And you're right it is another reason to hate the Orioles, also because they always suck when they play the Yankees and they play like its the World Series when they play the Red Sox. Also the fact that last year they made a huge deal that Johnny Pesky was on the bench with the Red Sox in September when he wasn't techinically on the coaching roster when teams that were in the playoff race like Oakland, Yankees, Twins and Angels didn't care that he was there. The Orioles deserve all of this crap that they're getting.

Looks like Raffy's season and career in Baltimore are over:

"The Orioles have told Rafael Palmeiro, who hasn't played since Aug. 30, that his season is over.
''He won't be dressing for the rest of the year,'' Orioles executive VP Jim Beattie said. ''We felt it wouldn't be appropriate for the organization.'' Palmeiro was disappointed with the decision when informed. ''I would say he wasn't totally in agreement,'' Beattie said. ''He had his sights on finishing out the season.'' Palmeiro hasn't said much recently, but he did indicate earlier this month that he hoped to play again in 2006. There's no way he'll be back with Baltimore.""

I'm gonna go out and say that his career is over as well. I doubt any team would be dumb enough to sign him.

I only got 2 things to say.......

1) Jose Canseco in the main event of WrestleMania 22 baby (no joke it's gonna happen). It will be one of the biggest media events and PPV events ever!

2) Palmerio is guilty. Tejeda is probably guilty. And if Raffy is throwing someone under the bus........GOOD FOR HIM! He should!!!!!!!! I could care less if steroids are in baseball or not. But, if we are going to hold this high and mighty standard and have "no steroids" then players should throw other guilty players under the bus! It's the ONLY way to rid the game of steroids. Not testing. Not public pressure. It's guys turning other guilty guys in.

I don't get the hoopla around steroids. Never have and never will. If guys want to take them, cut 15 years off their life and die and have a ton of health issues just to hit a ball further than the next guy, hey thats their call. Why do I care if someonen wants to kill themselves. I dont' lose sleep over who has what record and what record is legit. WHO CARES?!??? But, if we are going to hold the standard that steroids need to be out of the game.......then good for Palmerio for turning someone else in.

This is a serious question Mike, as a Yankee fan it doesn't bother you that guys on steriods are breaking records that people like Maris and Ruth worked hard for without cheating?

Because even as a Red Sox fan it pisses me off. Why should guys cheat the game?

Knowing Vince McMahon he'll probably try to get Raffy to be his tag team partner or opponent.
