I thought the Panthers fans were showing class and were gracious in defeat. But now they are all talking like Miami is a mediocre team at best and the Panthers basically handed the game to Miami. They are taking credit away from our defense by saying that Delhomme blew it. I've argued that our defense MADE those plays happen and that we had plenty of our own mistakes to overcome as well. (Like the INT in the endzone and the 139 yards worth of penalties)
One poster suggested that Miami is a 3rd tier team, 6-10 at best. I argued with this:

Carolina deserved to lose because they played horribly today. It was a poor performance from a team that has the talent to be a Superbowl contender.
The Carolina team that played today? They will be lucky to go 4-12.
I responded with this:
OK, you say we're a 6-10 team. Let's take a closer look: Carolina has Steve Smith and Keary Colbert and Ricky Proehl . Miami has Chris Chambers, MArty Booker and David Boston. Who has the better WR corp? At best it's a push. But I'd lean to Miami overall. QB: we have Gus you guys have Jake. I'll give it to Jake for sure, but not by leaps and bounds. Running back: You guys have Stephen Davis and DeShaun Foster. We have Ronnie Brown. Right now, the edge goes to your guys because they are a decent one-two punch. But when Ricky Williams comes back, it's easily Miami. You guys have a better O-line, but there are some problems with Carolina's line as well. LBs, you guys have Morgan and Witherspoon (who was out today) We have Zach Thomas and Junior Seau with a promising rookie Channing Crowder splitting time with Seau. I like our LBs better. Overall, your defensive line is slightly better. Jason Taylor is a top 3 to 5 defensive end in the league. Keith Traylor is a run stuffing tackle. And Kevin Carter and Vonnie Holiday are good and experienced veterans. You guys have Brentson Buckner and of course Peppers. Peppers and Taylor are pretty close as far as their impact. Peppers is the better overall athlete but Taylor makes at least as many plays.
The only place you guys are notably better than us is the secondary. Sam Madison isn't the same as he was 3 seasons ago. We lost Surtain and now have rookie Travis Daniels and the atrocious Reggie Howard. You guys have Lucas, Manning, and Minter. Our special teams are jsut as good, maybe better. Wes Welker is a good punt and kick returner. Steve Smith is obviously a good punt returner, but Smart is a not so good kick returner, so it's probably a push.
So tell me, how is Miami a bad team? A 6-10 team? You are thinking about the Dolphin team that WAS coached by Wannstedt and the team that underachieved for years. Are we a Super Bowl contender? Probably not, but you never know. Are we a BAD team? By no means.
