I was just listening to Ricky Williams on the Scott Van Pelt show, and he shared an interesting story about Parcells and his first day.

I wish I had a transcript but I will try to paraphrase the story to the best of my ability.

He said Parcells came into the locker the first day he was hired after 2007 with their injury report.
He slammed it down and said "We can't win like this."
Ricky then went on to say he also said that all the trouble makers in the locker room would be gone.
Ricky said that he thought he was specifically talking to him within his speech. He was later called into Parcells office that same day, and thought he was going to be getting the axe.
Parcells, sat him down and told him that he would like to extend his contract and that he really likes what Ricky was doing, and sees the potential.

Previously Ricky was talking about how Parcells seems to really understand him, and that they have a good relationship.

I just really liked the story and I'm sure on the ESPN radio podcast or something to listen to it for himself.

Other then that Ricky was kind of his usual self. Apparently after retirement he plans to go back to school, and try to become a doctor.

Ricks a great guy, im glad everything is working out for him. he seemed to really find his niche, on and off the field

I want Ricky to get his ring and ride off into the sunset after back to back 1,000 yard seasons. That would be awesome.

I just can't help but root for the guy. He's a thoughtful and humble athletic talent, and I think he can be a key part of getting us a SB win.

You know, even with what he did to our team, the guy still has so many fans in Miami. He is just a great guy and people just can't help but root for him. I hope he can keep his level of play up for the next two years.

even all of the coaches in the past.... Ditka, Wanny, Saban, Ca-moron, Parcells, Sparano....
they all love him. He works his tail off for everybody.

I met ricky at the new jersey nfl expo a year or so back, he was the nicest guy in the world and was very smart, he had a real medical problem with anxiety that caused him to do some things that some of us may think is wrong like smoking pot, sorry after all I see a day at work that people are dealing with, ricky is a normal guy, just had a medical problem that he himself seemed to have fixed, now he wants to get into healthcare god bless him

People just do not understand what its like to deal with Anxiety every living momement of every day. It will make you do things you never would think of beforehand.

I am glad atleast us here in Miami are getting to really see the real Ricky Williams. IMO, we are lucky to have him, and if you asked me if I would trade for him again years back knowing what I know now, I would.

Happy that Parcells, who's heard it all and is nobody's fool, has come to respect and appreciate Ricky. He's made some mistakes which have affected more than him, sure, but the distance he's had to travel to make it back speaks to his character. One of the more interesting, genuine and smarter guys in the league, he's someone I'd think would be a terrific personal friend to have.

I'm wishing him a productive, healthy final 2 years and a happy, fulfilling life thereafter..

I like Williams a lot and I'm happy to see him go in the right direction but I've got anxiety problems because of smoking so probably half the reason he's like that is because of the weed imo...hopefully I'm wrong though.

There are probably people out there that still lump ricky in with the other 'troublemakers' in the NFL (Vick, Pacman, Burress...). Ricky is quite possibly the most intelligent and spiritual athlete in professional sports. The guy is introspective and humble...an insanely rare combination in professional sports.

I said it before...I was never pissed off when ricky 'retired'...just incredibly disappointed because I thought it was the last I'd see of him. I really wasn't even thinking of the impact on the phins because I knew they weren't going to be a very good team anyway.

He's a class act. I don't think I have a 'favorite athlete'. But if I do, Ricky is it.

I'm happy Ricky is going to retire a Dolphin. I hear he and Ronnie are close friends, and it makes sense as Ronnie is also a class act. Hell Pennington and JT are class acts, our whole team is full of great characters!

This group deserves a shot in the Super Bowl, of course in the NFL you have to earn it. Hopefully we'll see that this year.
