Maybe not from the NYG's or LSU's standpoint, but viewed from the Finscentric looking glass - the perspective that matters most to the majority of us, Parcells and Saban will now always share a helluva lot more in common than that which separates them from each other. It boils down to their legacies while here- since "the bottom line" is just that!
Both arrived in Davie with high hopes and impressive resumes;
both started off with guns a-blazing but ended up slinking, if not weaseling out of town with limp dicks.
both quit on us realizing, after wasting a ****load of the owner's money that they were unable to get the job they were tasked with done;
both generated some illusionary success going in but left us, if not worse off, than with less hope, on the heels of their sleazy departures.
both, based on past glories deceived Wayne into believing, (as it turned out falsely), that their to-date accomplishments would translate into success stepping up to the next unproven level; but merely ended up being further confirmation of "The Peter Principle" at work.
both, with misplaced or antiquated priorities, made some questionable if not bone-headed draft and FA selections while leaving better choices on the table for other teams to feast on, and to haunt us beyond their shaky tenures
Benedict Parcells recommended the jest hire fatso; Benedict Saban told his butt buddy to sign Welker.. so you figure that one out
Both left mediocre records in their wake, the franchise teetering, and likely being compelled to once again reach anew to lay a foundation for the kind of continuity that builds championships, rather than 1-year wonders and aberrations
Both these bozos may have had different styles and arrived with differing expectations, but from the perspective of Fins fandom, their ineffectiveness while here, the messes they left behind, how they threw in the towel prematurely before the reality of their "legacies" caught up with the outside world's perception joins them at the hip rather than distinguishing each separately. There just ain't much difference between these "Birds of A Feather." Both turned out to be in over their heads and ended up taking the money and fleeing like a thief in the night.
I say **** both of em.
