Parcells changes team's attitude

Thanks. These are the types of stories I like to read.

I like what Parcells said to Crowder in this quote-

Bill Parcells' presence in the weight room has been intimidating for some players. Channing Crowder said Parcells joked, 'I had heart surgery and I still run faster than you.'
:lol::lol::lol:

Wow. It looks like we will be in shape ! The first thing I noticed when the season started on the road at Washington last year was that we were tired in that game.. The Redskins won that game simply because they were in better shape.. Before halftime Dolphins players were huffing and puffing like old out of shape men while the Redskins were just getting warmed up.

Why? ''A lot of teams do three 300-yard shuttles when they bring the players back as a conditioning test, with a two-minute break in between,'' Smiley explained. 'We're running those every day of the week. Guys are like, `Man, we're running hard.' It's the toughest offseason program I've been in.''
Crowder said there's a lot more power-lifting and ``guys will come in shape and not use camp to get in shape.''
• Players said the mentality and atmosphere have changed because of the new regime and new ''guys like [ex-Cowboy] Jason Ferguson, who have won a lot of games,'' Vernon Carey said. ``We [had] to change the mind-set of losing . . . Now we have fresh guys with a different mind-set.'

Now THAT's what Dolphin fans want to hear. For too long I've been scratching my head after a F.O. or coaching decision. Not anymore. Welcome to the new Miami Dolphins Football Club people.... It should be a good ride for the next 5 years or so.

After the first game against the Redskins last year I went ballistic on this board. I started threads stating that there is absolutely no excuse why we were so out of shape in that game. It was ridiculous how by mid 2nd quarter the dolphins were huffing and puffing more than any opening game I have ever witnessed.

The responses I was getting in those threads were ridiculous to say the least.. Over 80% of the responses were Cam Cameron apologists, people giving Cameron way too much of the benefit of the doubt.. People saying that he knew what he was doing.. Trying to tell me that you can't overwork players too much and that they need rest. Blah Blah Blah meh !

My responses were BULL CRAP, We have a WHOLE OFFSEASON to get in shape ! What were these millionaires doing? attending country club meetings ?? . Heck I remember getting a warning from a mod because I was so infuriated with the responses by my fellow phin fans..

Fast-forward a year later and look what we have here.. We have Bill Parcells patrolling the weight room and making these guys run hard, in April mind you. THIS IS WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT IN SEPTEMBER RIGHT AFTER THE REDSKINS GAME ! We have Bill Parcells patrolling the training facility like a sheriff wielding his baton getting these players in the best shape of their lives like a boot camp.,. This is awesome. What a difference

Like I said back then, there is ABSOLUTELY NO EXCUSE to have players out of shape. These guys are professional athletes for goodness sakes.. Being in shape is the ABSOLUTE Minimum we should expect as fans and from our coaching staff !

I am so happy to read this story today.. We may or may not beat the Jets on opening day. But let me tell you something my dear dolfans, the Jets better be prepared for a 4 quarter WAR !

The guys wearing aqua and orange on opening day in 2008 won't be the same out of shape lackadaisical wusses on opening day in 2007. We are going to come to play and knock some heads around. Run around you and through you til the final whistle in the 4th quarter.

no surprises there. parcells knew he had to change the team dynamic. good read.

Not sure what they were doing last off-season but this off-season, one of the defensive leaders is off dancing. Anyone who thinks Taylor's dance workouts even come close to simulating the type of physical demands being placed on players right now in South Florida are deluding themselves. As is Taylor.

I'm not a big Parcells fan but he was right to ignore Taylor when he strolled through the complex like he was Napoleon returning from Elba. The big difference is that Taylor's exile from his empire was voluntary. When Taylor's ready to get down to football, Parcells will welcome him back. Or should I say "if."

But while Taylor has had individual success in systems that feature him, he frankly doesn't know how a team wins in the NFL. Not his fault...he just hasn't been on teams who have won championships. That's something he needs to learn. The question is whether or not he's willing to stop doing things his way and listen to someone who's had team success.

Jes' sayin'...

We may not make the playoffs, but we are going to be much improved over last season. For the first time in a long time I am excited with direction the team is headed. It just seems like the last few years the front office and coaching staff has had no clue as to how to run an NFL team!

Except for the workout info, this is the same stuff the players said when Saban came in.
