I was wondering might Parcells lean on one of his former coaches Al Grow to help with the #1 pick, certainly Parcells has insight to what kind of player/person Chris Long is due to his relationship with Grow.

I wont be surprised at all if the dolphins chose Chris Long no matter where the pick.

I think that if we dont trade out of the 1 spot then we will take Chris Long.
I like that kid.He could be are future at DE,and he plays hard.

I would LOVE if we chose Chris Long. We can get a good NT and OT in the later rounds.... Chris Long plays with a ridiculous amount of intensity, and I think Bill is going to love that. Hes also a good size for DE, maybe even linebacker if we play the 3-4

also we have solai as well. he is a NT. so once he gets his technique down and how to use his fundamentals of the sport he can be good.

long would be the pick if not jake long i say it'll end up C Long or a trade out for whatevre we can get b/c according to the article he said we are listening to any offers.

Chris Long, keep JT and sign a stud NT and suddenly you have a Dline.

willaims or spaoga in FA would be awesome with Long at LE, JT at RE and now ur back to good with very good depth with moses at RE and roth at LE. now u need a LB core. loll hey at least its a good start. what i love bout Chris is how smart he is and how many times he sniffs out a play and how many deflections he gets if not more hten JT has.

Agreed. Even if we draft a NT, it could take a bit for him to adjust to NFL standards. We'd still need a stopgap veteran NT. Paul Soliai had troubles adjusting and a big part of it rests in poor DL coaching after Quinn left for the Jets. Any new D-lineman we draft will really need a good DL coach to mentor and ease them into the game. Otherwise, they'd be dazed and slowed.

This is a pattern with Bill Belichick. The Patriots have a tendency to draft an inordinate number of players from programs that have coaches that have a personal relationship with Belichick--Pat Hill at Fresno State, Nick Saban formely at LSU (watch Belichick go to that Alabama well in the future), Urban Meyer at Florida. But with Parcells, I cannot find a bias, probably because as far as I can tell, Parcells has fewer ex-assistants coaching at the college level. The coaches he mentors seem to end up exclusively as NFL coaches, Al Groh the exception. Keep an eye out for a TE in the second, or third-rounds. Parcells has let it be known in the past how valuable a great TE is.

great call. look at last year or hte year before was it...witten on teh roster and he goes fasano with round 2. We will go a TE that can block as well with evreything else in round 2 or 3.

Correct Parcells and Al Groh, now Virginia head coach, coached together at Army 1968-69. IMO, Long is the pick even with out the connection. Long could potentially address DE and ILB.

i think he has drafted more players from Virginia or VT then anywhere else. To be honest do we really care where they are drafted from as long as they know what they are doing?

while i would not boo them like with ginn if we do pick long with the #1 pick i hope it doesn't go down to well we picked this guy cause we know his coach well or well he has a great family..i'd love for our gm to pick a guy that really warrants that particular pick. i'd love to be able to say for once in a while that "that was the right pick for miami".
i realize that there will be more trust in a guy they know when talking players but evry coach will talk their top player up to help his draft status.
by the way this chris long fella has a great family.

I know for a personal fact you are correct. My wife has been president of the Atlanta Gator club for the last three years and I have met and even talked to Urban a few times in that period. I have heard directly from his mouth that Bellicheck has tapped him more than once for information on players and Urban has in turn tapped Bellicheck to speak to his team about what it takes to be a champion.

Personal references are huge in any business and i don't think the draft is any different. That being said I am actually thinking we are going to draft Dorsey.

I personally think Dorsey..... but a lot of you guys are high on Long. I wouldn't mind drafting him either. We're kind of in the "can't miss" situation.
