And in the case of the Jets, he went from head coach straight to the GM gig, meaning his folks were already in place.
I'd have to look at Dallas but I seem to remember that he brought "his" guys in when Jerry hired him.

As the head coach he is allowed to bring "his guys" with him as well as hire those that share the same philosophies and fire those that do not.

Relying solely on my oft-fallible memory, I'm pretty confident he did so in Dallas. I just don't have any specifics to name.
His first year running the front office was 1993 w/ NE, he was stripped of the front office duties in 1996(luckily for Pats fans), he had control w/ the Jets from 1997-2000 BUT he gave up the duties to groh in 2000 so Groh was making the decisions b/c Parcells said he felt a coach should be able to make those FO decisions although he hasn't allowed Sparano that opportunity.
