I don' t know if this has been posted yet, but check out Parcells opinion from an interview I read on Foxsports.com "quote to note".

"If the competition is victimized by someone spying on you--if that happened-- it's your fault because you could take the precautions to keep that from happening, if your smart enough."

Bill Parcells

Sounds like to me he's taken a pretty good shot at ol' Mangina up in NY. Godda love seeing your front office start taken shots at others in his own division. Let them know that the phins are coming back.

more to the point, sounds like he was probably guilty of it too in his coaching career, after all Belichik was one of his assistants.

Parcell's logic is faulty.

That's like saying:
"It's your fault for letting your house get robbed. You should've bought a security alarm to prevent it."

That may be true; however, the robber is still in the wrong, and should be punished.

So the Jets could've/should've tried to prevent spying; however, the Patriots are still in the wrong for doing so, and were rightfully punished.

Well, depends on how you look at things, is the glass half empty or half full?

Just like Cellman007 said, he could simply be siding with Bellicheck as opposed to taking shots at Mangina.....yet you could also argue he is taking shots at Wanstetd calling him an idiot for not covering up signals in those playoff games.

He is best friends with Bobby Knight and his famous "If you're a woman and you're getting raped, enjoy it" mentality so it doesn't surprise me.

I agree, I think he saying when your in battle you must prepare for everything including your opponent cheating. Don't assume anything, that explains his paranoia when he coached.

Isn't your fault for not protecting your interests?

Everything that Parcells has ever stood for as a coach would be torn asunder if he chose now to pipe up and whine about unfair advantages that teams could get by cheating. For him, he *has* to take that stance. He always has been and always will be a football coach and for him as a coach, the style he has as a coach that he has made work over the years, it would be totally out of character and defeatist to talk about the significance of what the Pats have done. He's always sending a message, whether it is to coaches under him or players under him. He brooks no crying over how unfair it is if the outcome of the game was impacted by some bogus penalty or something that went uncalled. There's always something else you could have done that would have won you the game. If you start crying over spygate and how you lost because of spygate, it becomes a defeatist excuse.

But that doesn't mean that those of us that are NOT compromised by the position we occupy cannot righteously gripe about how much the Patriots cheated the league, and theirselves. Asterisk City.

Thats funny, up hear in Jersey next to Meadowlands there is a Marriot hotel and from the top floors you can see into Giants stadium. Well back in the late 80s Bill flipped out and wanted the hotel searched or something like that because he thought teams were using it to tape his practices. Hence the new practice bubble was built outside the staduim. True story!

haha, that is funny. But it just goes to proves Parcells point I guess. He did what needed to be done to make sure no one spyed on him from the Marriot

For future Fin Heaven posting reference, simply typing "True story!" at the end of a story obviates the need for a link to corroborate a story.

True story!

This stuff has been going on for decades, including the videotaping aspect. Even Jimmy Johnson has admited that he learned the exact same video trick from an old Chiefs' scout in the 80's and tried it a few times.

So maybe it's more like "If you know you live in a high crime area, maybe you shouldn't leave your car unlocked with your keys in the ignition." These coordinators call plays with their play charts covering their mouths for a reason.

He's still got a lot of close ties with the Jets. He hand picked and groomed their GM. I don't think he would take potshots at the Jets just for the sake of it. I think he's just "keepin it old school".

So the possiblity of BB developing this tactic solely on his own is out of the question?
What a ridiculous assumption on your part.
What BB did is the result of a character flaw and not a coaching style/technique.
Asst. coaches usually adopt styles/techniques from the various coaches they work under. BB has always appeared to be a free thinker and I believe he started this taping nonsense out of a sense of paranoia and fear of failing in New England like he did in Cleveland.
