Jerome (Davenport, FL): Was it a coup for the dolphins to be able to sign to former head coaches as their coordinators this week and do you believe they were good hires?

Len Pasquarelli: (12:04 PM ET ) yeah, absolutely, . . . i will tell you that, at this moment, ther's a litlte bit of a hangup on the dom capers hire . . . nothing that will keep it from happening, i don't think . . . but don't be surprised to see him sign just a one-year deal as a consultant . . . but on a whole, yeah, nick saban has brought in two top-flight guys

We dont need a consultant, we need a dc

What worries me is this line:

Sounds like it's not a done deal yet. Also it looks like Capers really has his heart set on being a head coach otherwise it wouldn't be a 1 year consultant thing.

im really not a big fan of the 3-4 i know that it has a lot of success but i just like the whole 2 DT apposed to 1 NT

Saban probably doesn't want Capers as a long term guy. We could use Capers to help implement a 3-4 defense, but i still believe Saban wants to groom Muschamp into His defensive coordinator through time. Capers probably knows that.

you could hire him as a consultant, and have him do whatever it is we need him to do. Presumably, DC. The hiring hangup, if you can believe this guy, is one of three things -

1) $$$
2) time
3) benefits

This, and factors with his ex-team would be possible hang ups. This stuff is more complex than most can grasp...

The hangup is his old contract with the Texans. Even though he got fired, they had to work something out. It was reported in another article posted on here somewhere.

Sounds to me like Pasquarelli doesnt know what the hell he is talking about as far as details go.

Better still! Dom comes in to consult...the other guys get to learn the finer points of the '3/4' full go...and they're better able to continue on thereafter. No one feels slighted, and the team retains two potential DC's on staff (which as we now know...is the Saban way!). Gettin' 'er done!!!

All of what Pastabelli had to say seems like an opinion piece to me. I don't care what he says. Give us the truth from somewhere else

I heard on local radio (ESPN) here in Tampa this morning that it's just the finalization of the termination of his Texans contract.. it is NOT anything on our end..

Yep. He's just throwing some nonsense out there to give people something to talk about.
