I feel like Pat has a great feel for the problem here and he's taking it directly to the NFL in that video.

Fins are mentioned only once briefly, so this barely belongs on the main but I put it here because there where 2 active threads about reffing this week end and Pat pretty much adresses every single point made by everyone in those threads. Thats a nice 8 minutes.

His weird trademark tank top look aside, Pat is excellent. Unlike the dufuses that get studio jobs with the networks, Pat is really talented at broadcasting and he’s knowledgeable and has actual analytical skills. He’s so much better than the likes of Bill Cowher, Tedi Bruschi, Shan Sharpe, et al that it’s not even funny.

I’d like to keep my blinders on to the obvious issues with reffing. I’d like to think they’re just doing a bad job…not on purpose to fix games. It reminds me a little of when I was a huge fan of the WWF in the 90s and part of me knew it was fake.
Then you get guys like Gene Steratore who would call the same play differently depending on the color of the team's laundry. I dont think he has ever made a call in favor of the fins. (Even in retirement as an analyst)

The more guys like Mcafee talk about it, the more traction it gets, the better the chance at getting some changes and impartiality.

I also think it needs to be stressed further that the NFL is in bed with gambling sites like draft kings and fan duel, etc..... Former players running advertisements. It gives the perception that these games may be unduly influenced. Its a bad look for the shield.

I agree with that statement, they're just bad at their jobs and they seem to be easily influenced by certain players.

I'm not going to say the refs don't need upgrading and/or being called out for bad calls, but let's be realistic here. Refs can't watch every defender in the secondary on every play nor every TE/OLman on every play. They do and WILL CONTINUE to miss calls even with the best refs on earth. That's why I'm against allowing teams to challenge missed calls. It's a game officiated by humans.

The biggest complaint I have is the WIDE variation between refs on calls such as PI or roughing the passer, or, worse, obvious ones like false start. I think the league ought to call out refs who continually miss obvious calls or show a prejudice against specific teams. Light is a disinfectant

People that say that NFL games are rigged are the dumbest of sports fans and sports fans are really dumb. Problem is we have a high speed game with too many rules that are left to individual interpretation by 60-70 year old refs. Mistakes get made.
