I took a look at Patrick Turner stats since, Im a firm believer in the numbers game and they tell a whole different story then what Kiper and Mcshay said. The kid improved his stats each and every year and had TDs each an every year ini college. he stats show he really broke out last year and plays alot faster then he tested. The fact he showed improvement year after year tells me this kid is an accending player who will only get better. He is a real good route runner and can really block the Corner with his body to catch the ball. I think we got a real nice player in Turner.

Here are his Stats

Receiving Stats

Who? Patrick "I feel" Turner.
"I feel I bring a red-zone threat," Turner said. "I feel I bring a lot of mismatches. I feel like I'm a possession receiver.
"I feel that in the fringe area, to be a bigger guy, I feel I run pretty good routes, and I feel sure-handed, like I can contribute."
Kidding aside, I think he will turn out to be a solid pick-up. Without much pressure, he has an opportunity to become a 2nd or third option next year. I like all of the numbers because it puts pressure on the rest of the guys to go all out everyday. Remember, Bill likes competition at every position. This allows our key areas of need to improve in camp. Have you ever been put in a position to perform your best or lose your job. It is quite motivating.

If he wasn't a USC WR, he'd be looked at completely different. All anyone sees is that he was a big time prospect for USC and didn't live up to their expectations.

If he was in the Big Ten he would have gone first day

Turner also played on a stacked USC team with a ridiculous amount of weapons on offense. They liked to go to the TE, had tonnes of talented backs. In other words, the ball got spread around, so him not having huge numbers doesnt bother me. he averaged 15 yards a catch and had 10 tds. Ill take that in the 3rd round.

I honestly think that he may be a better player for us than he was in college. It is getting to be a misfortune for players to go to USC because there are so many top prospects there that they can't get them all on the field. He was the top prospect at WR coming out of high school a few years ago.

Agree and this USC team is no where near as talented on offense as in years past..ie Bush, Leinert, White years. They were a strong defensive team that played on a short field a lot! Turner is a good player and I think has better ability than Jarrett and Williams did.

That and the fact that USC scored so quickly in games. There defense set them up with good field position and there were a lot of long plays.

Exactly! When you play with 10 other options on offense who were highly touted high school prospects like yourself, the ball isn't going to come your way so you can be that 1000+ yard, 12+ TD receiver NFL prospect that teams covet in the first round. Obviously Turner isn't blazing a trail with speed, but he is adequate. He has great hands and finds the ball in the red zone. It is a solid choice after getting fleeced by the Giants for Barden.

Funny we were both thinking this. I was watching "Ringer" in the middle of typing and didn't see that you posted the same thing.

I know, I was so pissed when the Gnats sniped him from us.
