After Monday night’s game I was left wondering how ourdefense could be carved up so easily. The Patriots ran a two tightend set a lot last season. The Dolphins had months to figure out how todefend it. A possible answer occurred tome, EDDS. Everybody thought that thePatriots picked up Edds for insight into our offense, but it was just theopposite. Edds provided informationregarding every defensive player’s responsibilities given a certain offensive formation. If a receiver or RB goes in motion Eddscould explain how that changes each players responsibilities. If an offense has that kind of understandingof each defensive players responsibilities it makes exploiting them mucheasier. Comments from the Patriotsstated that Brady enjoys all the preparation work prior to the actual game. The commentators stated that Brady doesn’tcall a play in the huddle, but a formation. Once he gets to the line he gets pick which actual play they run givenwhat he sees from the defense. Heck, who doesn’t like taking a test if you already have all the answers to thequestions. I don’t fault the Patriotsfor picking up Edds just to gain inside information, every team does it or hasthe opportunity to do it. I also don’tbelieve the the Dolphins should have kept Edds just so the Patriots don’t gethim. I believe Edds should’ve made theteam because he was talented enough and showed enough during the preseason towarrant a spot on the 53 man roster. However, its still not an excuse for our loss. The coaching staff knew what information Edds had and they should've known how Belicheat will use every legal or illegal tactic to win. They should've made better adjustments.
